Innocent Eyes
A Poem
by A. R. McIntyre
Chapter 1
Innocent Eyes
Through innocent eyes,
The world is kind.
Every little thing has you hypnotized.
And your left in a strange state of mind.
Through innocent eyes,
Everything is clearly defined,
By wrong or right.
And you never go out at night.
Through innocent eyes,
Only bad people tell lies.
And the people that love you,
Could never hurt you.
Through innocent eyes,
It's hard to see, tough to realize,
What someones true intentions were.
And if Mom and Dad'll be there for sure.
When you stop seeing through innocent eyes,
Everything so real, but even harder to define.
You never know if the kindness is real or fake,
But now you would never follow a nice stranger.
If everyone was naive like a child,
The world would be better, not defiled.
And if someone were kind.
It wouldn't even pass your mind.
If they're intentions were to harm you.
But not everyone can have a child's naivety.
Hush little baby don't say a word,
Daddy's gonna buy you a mocking bird.
And if that mocking bird don't sing.
Daddy's gonna buy you a diamond ring.
Hush little baby don't say a word.
Someday you'll fly like a mocking bird.
And the angels and you will be happy and sing.
And the golden thing over you, shaped like a ring.
And if that diamond ring turns brass,
Daddy's gonna buy you a looking glass.
And if that looking glass gets broke,
Daddy's gonna buy you a billy goat.
But when your golden heart turns brass,
You'll see the world threw the looking glass.
And when you fading mind gets broke,
All you'll see is a rocking goat.
The world is kind.
Every little thing has you hypnotized.
And your left in a strange state of mind.
Through innocent eyes,
Everything is clearly defined,
By wrong or right.
And you never go out at night.
Through innocent eyes,

And the people that love you,

Through innocent eyes,

That's...There isn't really word for it, like usual...Something in between saddening and heart-aching... Your poems always make me feel naive and young, and inexperienced... And saddened...
