The Rules of S.I.A
Lexie Naydeen works for the Secret Intelligence Agency, a company most people do not know about. And never will. Her job is to protect the people she's assigned to, and she's assigned to Jace Sumner, a former spy. A very paranoid spy at that.
~Normally when I write, I don't have a plot line. This time I do, so I hope you all enjoy the story. -Chelsea(:
Chapter 1
Who is Jace Sumner?
A heated discussion could be heard from the room across from mine, and I ducked my head back into my own office. The last time I intervened with my boss and whoever he was fighting with, I was faced with the barrel of two guns. Then the dreaded happened.
"LEXIE! GET OVER HERE RIGHT NOW!"
"Shit," I muttered, and hoisted myself out of my chair before queitly making my way over to the fighting duo.
"Yes, boss?" I stood with my arms crossed over my chest, my feet were even with my shoulders.
"Don't give me attidtude. Come in, you've got yourself an assignment," my boss growled and to me, it sounded more like a chore than anything else.
"What do you have in mind?"
"What do you know about Jace Sumner?" he asked as he sat on the edge of his desk. The other man seemed to be more towards the shadows of the room, obviously not a people-person.
"Give me half an hour," I replied and turned on my heels to research this 'Jace Sumner".
------
"Jace Sumner is a former spy. he's quite paranoid, always looking over his shoulder as if someone is following him. He's secretive about everything, whether it's about something professional or personal. He was given honoury discharge two years ago, but the reason why he was released was never spoken to the public. Barely anyone knows he exists, which is the way he prefers it to stay." I stood leaning against the wooden doorway and I smiled, amused at the shock of the other man.
"What else do you want to know? I know pratically everything there is about this man, his past, his appearnce, what he's done. Everything," I spoke to no one in particular, just the room and whomever wanted to listen.
"I think your boss has gotten his point across. You've got yourself a deal," the stranger nodded and shook hands with my boss, leaving a tenseness in the room as he walked out of the building.
"What did you sign me up for this time? Some job where I sit at the desk doing research? Oh wait, I've got it. I'm going to have to play super nice with that dude and get him to work with us," I laughed sarcastically and pushed my long black hair away from my shoulder in a stereotypical way.
My boss, which is all I will ever call him by. He swore at me the first time I called him by his name and I dare not even mention his name for fear of losing my job. At the this moment, he was not angry but instead, he sighed loudly.
"You've been assigned the task of tracking Mr. Sumner down and getting him to come here the S.IA, at whatever means possible. I mean that, even if you have to trick him. My boss's boss's boss wants to talk to him about classified information. If you succeed, you'll be promoted. If not, well it's very much possible that you'll be replaced," he paused for a moment and the weight of his words sunk in.
"Now get to work."
