A Poem

by A. R. McIntyre

Chapter 1

Tired

Helpless.
Is it helpless?
Pointless.
Even meaningless.

It doesn't matter anymore.
I need to get up, pick myself up off the floor.
Need to get away.
Need to live to see another day.
Not taking it anymore.
Here, a place I can't stay.

Take me away.
Never see this place again.
Give me a way.
To run, run as fast as I can.

This isn't a place for me to stay.
No longer at least.
I just want to get away.
From the horrid beast.

I'm tired of the lie.
I'm tired of this smile.
I'm tired of a fake me.
The real me hiding all the while.
I'm tired of pretending.
Tired of being numb.
I'm tired of hurting,
And of these things I've done.

I'm so weak.
My out-looks bleak.
My mind is closing down.
No one make a sound.
Don't turn on the lights.
Or you'll see something full of fright.
Silent every night.
Lips seal tight.
Don't let them hear.
Don't let them see.
Don't let them bare,
These weapons against me.
To tired to fight.
Can't summon my might.
So I'll lay helpless.
My nights dreamless.
