I don't know what "Homophobia". Explain it please! Explained more in the description.
I need to know the definiton for my work which is due in this Friday (13th).
Okay, basically this is what I thought Homophobia was:
I know this gay couple called Paul and Craig. And Paul is real mean and always makes me jump and is always scaring me. Therefore I am always edgy and scared when I'm around him incase he sacres me.
I thought because he's gay and I'm scared of him that made me Homaphobic, but apparently it isn't...

Homophobia = Homo means man, and phobia means fear. Homophobia is fear of gay people, not because of their character but because of their preference of gender. If you're afraid of the man because he's mean, not because he falls for men, then you're not homophobic.
What Nubilis said. Homophobia is simply the fear/dislike of gays, regardless of their personality and character. If you knew a gay person, and they were a really good person but you still feared or hated them because they were gay, that would be homophobia. If you do not like the person because of their character, or are scared by the way they act, then it is not homophobia, that's just not liking the person.

It generally comes down to that, and then beliefs and religion, for why people may be homophobic.
Basically, it's the fear of the idea of being gay, rather than the person.
The reasons why people may have that fear really depend on the person, their background, belief and experiences.
Basically some haven't jumped on board with the whole accepting bi gay and les and some are fearful of them or fearful of the faith that they're good people equal to us.

homo means that they mix with the same thing like homogene mixtures for example, in this case it refers to the same gender,phobia means fear so it's fear of those who are with the same genre. No you're not homophobic, you just dislike him as a person cus he's mean
