Lose yourself, your soul, your heart (Neville longbottom one shot)

When you've lived through a war, it changes you. Sometimes for the better. Sometimes for the worst. And sometimes not at all. But it's not until someone tells you do you know which one you are. Draco was the good change. Now a highly respected auror working for the collection and capture of rouge deatheaters, it wasn't until Harry himself gave him a full hardy laugh and a firm pat on the back with a mumble of 'your all right malfoy' that Draco knew he'd changed for the better. Cho, on the other hand, had changed for the worst. The death of Cedric still hitting hard even after all theses years and her grief never fully subsiding. She led a life of fire whiskey and one night stands, selling off her information of the golden trio for a shot of the bars strongest liquor, simply not caring if that man she just spoke to was hiding a dark mark underneath his long black trench coat. It's wasn't until the almost death of one Ron weasley did she know that man who asked his address was truly a death eater and that she had changed for the worst. Neville longbottom was one of the few that didn't change. Sure his shyness was less predominant these days and his self confidence was given a boost, but his heroic days of war time were over and overall he had returned to his normal self. Now the herbology professor at the now intact walls and green houses of hogwarts, he was back in his element. Back to being himself. That's what drew me in. That's how I fell in love With the shy boy from my school days. You see, I was one of the ones who changed. Not for the better, not for the worst, just…changed. The war left me shaken. Dreams filled with the screams of my class mates, my friends. Their dead eyes lined my eye lids and their blood and pale skin invading the quick darkness as I blinked. I was more reserved, more shy, more happy with my own company then the company of others. But being a hufflepuff I would push myself to put others before myself. Checking up on how the weasleys were dealing with the death of Fred and comforting George as he ranted, raved and swore That the wrong twin died that it was all my fault! I shouldn't have left him! I could have saved him!!. I babysat for Harry and Ginny when Harry would have a break down, blaming himself for deaths, screaming that the blood of Fred, tonks and Colin still stained his hands, when the nightmares came back more vividly then ever. I was there. I pushed my feelings of loneliness, guilt and want for death aside and took care of James, Albus and Lilly as Ginny comforted the boy who lived. A true hufflepuff, through and through. But one day he came. He took the time to assure that I was ok. For the first time since the end of the war it wasn't me caring for others, it was someone caring for me. He held me when I cried. He listened to me rant and scream. He let me grieve. He let me fall in love with him and, eventually, let himself fall for me. I had changed, no denying it, but it made me stronger. It allowed me to fall. Allow him to catch me.
