"Hello, little one. What is your name?"
It is with those seven words the story begins. Ramona Spencer is an escort, a person who has died and chosen to help the reincarnation process. Louis is a normal teenager, living with his mother and sister while his father is away at war. Their differences are almost frightening, and at first, they are just that - frightened. But fright fades in the presence of true love, and the obstacles allow them to pass. Well, most of them...

DEDICATED TO ATHENASCALZI, MY BEST FRIEND - I HOPE SHE LOVES THIS PLAY!!!

Scene 1

Setting: A young girl stands in the middle of a forest. The wind is blowing with considerable strength, but she is unaffected by it; every hair stays in place and she doesn't seem cold, though it is December, and she is wearing only jeans and a t-shirt. She stands with her head titled back to look at the sky, her hand outstretched in front of her as if waiting for something. Sure enough, one little star floats down from the sky like paper falls when you let go of it and floats just above her palm.

Ramona: Hello, little one. What is your name?

The Star: Bailey.

Ramona: Hello, Bailey. I'm Ramona, your escort.

Bailey: Thank you!

Setting: Without another word, Ramona closes her eyes. The star enlarges slightly with a great flash of light and then the wind whisks it away, the gold sparks drifting in all directions.

Ramona: Be wise in this life.

Setting: Ramona is finally affected by the wind. She is blown into a mist that is carried away by the wind, much as Bailey was, leaving the air hollow and empty with the lack of magic that just occurred inside it. Two boys get out from behind a rather thick tree. One is pale and shuddering, his eyes wide and his mouth agape, and the other is serious-faced and determined-looking. The latter puts his hand on the former's shoulder.

Steve: What did I tell you, Lou? Something weird is going on here with that girl.

Louis: That did not just happen. (He looks to his friend for reassurance) That did not just happen.

Steve: But it did happen. It happens every night, here, at exactly midnight.

Luois: But, how... this isn't right!

Steve: (Seriously) No, it's not, not at all. We need to figure out what's going on here. Meet me here tomorrow at eleven and be prepared to wait.

Setting: And Steve turns and leaves the scene, leaving his friend to finish grasping with the fact that what he had just witnessed really happened.
