Chapter 1
Caroline
I screamed and hugged my parents. Tessa could come on holiday with us! My parents had fixed grins on their faces, knowing this was right idea. Tessa was just as excited as I was and her long, curled, brown hair bounced around, like mine did. Only mine was long, straight and blonde. We both had our similar large, blue eyes with thick eyelashes. Tessa was beautiful. Her eyes shone and contrasted against her hair, which was natural. She was pale and slim, but small. She wore make-up, but not to hide anything. In most people's views, she was perfect. Her boyfriend, Dom, thought so too. He loved her and you could see it. I sighed whenever I saw them together. It wasn't like I was jealous, but Liam didn't love me. I could tell, he kissed me and held me often enough, he never ignored me, or cheated on me, he didn't abuse me, or go out with me for other reasons. I could see it in his eyes. Eyes were important to me, I could read how people were feeling through them. Liam just didn't love me, he never told me did. To be fair, I never asked, I wasn't clingy. I knew a fair lot of guys who complained about girls being clingy. I became determined not to be one.
I stepped upstairs, our staircase only small, and Tessa quickly followed. I dived onto my bed and Tessa did the same, sometimes it felt like she copied me, but I never said anything. I kept to myself a lot, but I was loud and confident. Weird, you may think, but it made sense to me.
"We're going to Florida, TOGETHER!" Tessa yelled suddenly. She got hyperactive and a little bit dramatic when anything happened.
"I know Tess, we'll have a great time!" I replied, my large smile in place.
That was the plan anyway. To spend 2 weeks away from here, boring, raining England, get brilliant tans and go shopping for American clothes. Not that they would be much different. We'd spend all day on the beach, in the sea and on the sand which, I imagined, would slip through our fingers, be boiling to touch and luxurious. Tessa nodded, she was listening to her music. Her head was nodding in time, she looked a demented nodding dog. I pulled the earphone from her ear, god it was loud.
"Tessa! You can't spend all of these next 2 weeks on your phone ya know!" I said.
"Of course not Caro, why would I do that? Besides signal won't be amazing. It's not like I'll be texting Dom every 2 seconds, I'm not sad!" She replied and popped the earphone back in, returning to her little world of head nodding. My suitcases were nearly packed, I chucked a few more T-shirts in one and a pair of shorts. I needed 2 and a large backpack for all my stuff. I'd die without any of my essentials.
Eventually around 4pm, Tessa lifted her butt from my bed and left for home. I trudged downstairs when my mum, Lisa, called me down for tea. Pasta. I twirled the long strands around my fork and ate it. I loved doing this, entertained me for some reason.
"Mum, can I put my hairdryer in your case? It won't fit, and there is no way I'm not taking it!" I said suddenly, looking up.
She pushed her short blonde hair from her face and nodded,
"Wouldn't want you having a panic attack from frizzy hair now would we?" She joked.
I rolled my eyes, typical, but at least she was offering to take it for me. She was like that, she simply did not understand how important having blow-dried hair was, especially if it was as long as mine! I felt my phone buzz, good timing I had finished my meal. I got up and flopped myself on the sofa. It was Liam,
Heyy, fancy coming out? Big gang of us going the park? xx
Well, 2 kisses ain't bad. Still I couldn't decide. It would be good if I did go, but I couldn't be bothered at the minute.
"Can't, not feeling to good...see you tomorrow x*
He didn't reply...oh well, typical.
