Chapter 1
The Ghost
"Would you please finish your homework, Jared! Stop watching TV this instant!" shouted Jared's mom. Jared walked as slow as a dead man toward the television. He dislikes almost anything, anyplace, and anybody, other than the Tv. Jared considers it as one of his friends. He truly does care for his mother, father, and big brother Tanner, but he just doesn't like to show himself as a caring person. He wants to be strong and smart just like his brother, but he knows that he is not even close. Jared is one of the skinniest boys is his grade and isn't satisfied with that fact. He hates going to school and doing homework. So continuing to the Tv, he turns it off and walks slowly to his room until his mother leaves. He jumps over the couch and quickly turns it back on with low volume. Two hours later it is nine o'clock, and he fell asleep.
On the next morning on Wednesday, at seven o'clock he gets ready for school and eats breakfast. He only faintly remembers walking back to bed at two o'clock last night. "Oh no. I didn't finish my homework! Oh dear, oh dear, oh dear! What will I do!?" He says aloud to himself in a sarcastic tone. He smiles as he says it and laughs afterwards. He meets his best friend Robby at school in front of the first class, Math. Jared hates that math is first. He realizes that if he is at all going to pay attention to math, it has to be before or after lunch. He doesn't really care for any class anyways.
"Hey Jared, Whats Up? Finish your homework last night?" Robby asks in the same tone that Jared had used. Jared nods back. Robby is smarter than Jared. He gets straight B's. Jared gets straight D's.Jared doesn' understand how they are friends. One is smarter than the other. And that's all he can see. Robby knows that they both like sports and in most people's opinion at their school, sports are the thing that ties boy's friendship together.
Finally the bell rings at Lembrigdge high school. They wait to be the last ones in. Right after Robby goes in, Jared goes in... but he can't. something is holding him back. It isn't himself, its something... invisible. There is some mist though. He decides to go back a few feet, then charge in. He takes his ready position, then runs in. He crashes into nothing again.
"Follow me Jared. Hear my words, do follow me. Make your decision, for whatever your decision is, your life is in danger!"
