Chapter 1

Pirates

Intro
My name is Sorria, in a few days I turn 11, Father promised that today he is going to take me on his ship, The Queen Anne, named after my late mother, to England for my birthday. We set sail soon, and I can hardly wait!!
**************************************************************************************
We've been sailing for a day and a half now, I am completely smitten with the sea already! The smell of the ocean, the rush of a warm tropical breeze, even the slight rocking of the ship as you walk from Bow to Stern are among the most thrilling of the highlights. After mid-day meal Father asked me.
"Do you know the tale of the Flying Dutchman, my dear?"
"Yes, you've told me before." I answered, staring at a horizon of beautiful nothingness. "I think it's a great story."
"Oh? Why don't you tell it to me then?" He inquired.
"Years ago, the was a man, by the name of Davy Jones. Jones fell in love with the sea-goddess Calypso, and she with him. He gave her his heart, and she gave him a job, ferry the soulds of those who died at sea ..on... for ten years, one day on the land. He did his duty, willfully taking care of those who were lost. But then, when he docked, and returned to the land, she was not there. He waited and waited, but to no avail, for she did not come for him. Unable to bear the pain he felt, he cut out his own heart, and put it into a chest, still beating, his heart is buried away sowmewhere along with all reminders of his lost love. He does not ferry souls, and he does not care. Now he haunts the seas, sending forth his creature to do his bidding, accumulating a crew of men who fear death. To each he gives, one hundred years before the mast. Still his curse is this, he has become nothing less than a monster, the sea and man in one, ten years to sea, one day on land, and his heart beats in a chest that is not his own."
"You truly are an excellent story teller my dear."
"Thank you Father, I think it's very romantic... the first part anyway. Where he is so hurt he cuts his heart out, all for love..."
I had expected Father to respond in shock, but he said nothing.
"What do you think of the story?"
"Aye, I agree with ye, my fair lass." A rough voice came from behind me.
I turned around and gasped at the sight of a man, with a long dark beard welding a sword that was laquered red. I looked to the ground and knew what the crimson stuff was it was my father's blood. I searched for an escape, but before I could so much as cry for help from the men on the Queen Anne's crew, the burly man picked my up and hoisted me over his shoulder. I kicked him in the sides repeatedly but he did not react, though he shook me quite a bit. I could only see what was directly underneath us, and so when he crossed back to his ship, and I saw the ocean writhing below, I froze, and became perfectly stiff. Only when I once again saw a solid floor beneath me, did I allow myself to lose consciouness.
