The Escapade

"So, I'll be going - I have to do my part-time job." Coraline, myfriend, said, exiting dismally through the front doors of Smith Highschool. I threw my head back, letting out a long, loud sigh. 'At least it's Friday.' I think to myself, getting ready to go. Coraline and I had stayed for a school project. It was around seven o'clock, and the autumn air was turning from refreshing to bitter. I walked quickly back to my home, since our town has alot of crime going around. Two blocks away from my house, I heard a faint rustle. I went rigid, temporarily frozen in fear. 'Nothing to get so worked up about. It's probably just a squirrel or something.' I reassured myself, wlkinga little faster now. Snap! A twig snapped next to me. My eyes widened, and I started sprinting as fast as I could towards my house. Exactly at the same time, I heard thudding of heavy feet running after me. 'Just a little more...' I strained, pushing my thin legs forward. Suddenly,a few feet away from where I was, a shadowy figure bolted in front of my path. I tried to slow down, but I eneded up tripping over my own feet. The figure hastily made its way toward me. "Please, don't.." I whimpered helplessly. The figure moves closer. It flashed me a perfectly white smile. Then the world was comsumed by darkness.
