Tears streamed down my cheek as I looked into the coffin of my best friend. Gone. She was out of my life forever.

I feel arms wrap around me and I start to feel warm and safe. I breathe steadily.

"Are you okay?" Eli whispered into my ear

"Yes, I'm okay for now." I whispered back then turn to face him I continued, "Can you take me home?" I say to him

"Sure," he repiled with a slight smile

I said my goodbyes to Anna's family and walked out the door. I shurged off my jacket as I got in to the warm car. Eli leaned over as he got in and kissed my cheek sending warmth into my body. It was quiet on the way to my home, just the faint music playing in the backround. Eli grabbed my hand and put it in his. I held tight, wanting to never let go...

Ring...Ring...Ring

Eli's phone started ringing. I grabbed before he could get to it. The number was unfamilar to me, but i pressed talk anyways.

"Hello?"
It was a girl's voice.
"Is this Eli's phone?" she asked
"Uh yes it is, why do you-..."
Eli took his phone out of my hand and closed it fast.

"Who was that?" I asked questionly
"Uh it was no one, no one important," he said grabbing my hand again
I pulled away. "Yeah of course it was," I say and turn to look out the window.

Thousands apon millions of things popped into my head. Except there was only one I focused on and had a feeling it was true. Eli was cheating on me. But why? Only that's what I didn't know. Why would he do that, he loves me doesn't he? I don't know but something is up and I, Emily Polic, will find out.

We pulled into my driveway as the car came to a halt. I opened my door, then stopped as Eli pulled me back inside. He kissed me, but it didn't feel as real as before.

"I love you." he whispered into my ear

Me being a smart-ass I replied, "Do you?"

"Of course Em, why woul-, wait is this because of that phone call earlier?"

"I don't know, but until you tell me who she is..."

"She's an old friend of mine, alright, from when I was little." he said brushing my blond hair behind my ear

"Do you believe me?" he asked looking me in the eyes

"Yes, I just thought...something was going on, that's all." I said giving him a fake smile

"Em, I wouldn't that to you so don't worry, goodnight baby, I love you." he said, and kissed me once again

"I love you too." I said and I opened the door and got out.

I stood in the cold watching his car pull out. My mom opened the door, "Em? Are you okay?" she asked

"Uh yeah mom." I said and walked in through the door

I threw my coat on the coach, and gave my dad a kiss on the cheek, "Goodnight Daddy, I love you." I say and start to walk up the stairs expecting to hear nothing, cause it was a football night, and nothing can disturb him, not even food. I walk into my bathroom and brush through my tangled hair. I run Eli's words through my head again, It was just an old friend of mine, from when I was little. I think again while I start to brush my teeth, but why wouldn't he have told me when I first answered the phone? I stop thinking about that as I put my warm pjs on. Then think, Maybe he was really telling the truth...
