Chapter 1
Introduction.
It was a quarter after 1. I shut my eyes in hope to get some sleep. The same image filled my mind. AGAIN and AGAIN. A dark creature, scarier than any dragon I had heard existed, and it aimed towards me. Surely something so hideously scary could not have something to do with me.
It walked slowly. Like as though it ached to move. "RUN EVELYN." someone yelled. I looked back to see a tall, slender boy with a pale, pointed face, sleek white-blond hair, and stone grey eyes.
He looked frantic and the dark creature was fast approaching. His eyes had frenzied look upon them. As I watched, the dark creature drew a wand from its sleeve.
"EVELYN!" he yelled again.
The creature did not point the wand at me as I had anticipated; it pointed it at the beautiful boy.
My insides hurt. I screamed.
I opened my eyes to see the pale yellow walls of my room. I squinted to see through the bright sunlight pouring through the window. I groaned. I had about 5 hours of sleep. I sighed and pulled the drapes open.
My alarm clock buzzed next to me. I slammed my fist on it. It was the third night I had without much sleep. The same kinds of nightmares kept haunting me. Time to get outta bed.
I went into the bathroom and brushed my teeth. It took me quite a long time to get ready. I had no one as a parent or guardian. I lived on my own. I made my own money, solved my own problems and made my own food.
That day was like any other. Getting ready for school. I was 15, and was going to turn 16 soon; At least, that's what I thought. I don't know when my birthday is. I remember a man looking after me. But that was around 9 years ago, I never celebrated my birthday.
It's no surprise, but I do not have any friends either. I was too weird for them.
My long black hair was pulled into a pony and I wore a tank top with black shorts.
What shall I have for breakfast today?
hm, maybe some waffles would do.
I heard the doorbell ring.
I went to it. As soon as I opened it, I saw an old man. He looked tall and thin, with long silver hair that looked long enough to tuck into his belt and a long beard.
He smiled warmly at me.
Another hobo?
I was just about shut the door on his face when he said, "Hello Evelyn, I am Albus Dumbledore."
Albus dumbledore? Who has a name like that?
"How do you know my name?" I asked.
"Will you not let me in?" He asked softly.
There was something in his voice that made me feel like obeying him.
I opened the door wide enough to let him through.
"Well then, lets get down to business... but I am afraid, you are going to need some help trusting me. How about I start by explaining a little bit about myself?" he asked.
I gave a stern nod and closed the door.
"I am Professor Albus Percival Wulfric Brian Dumbledore" he said with a certain air of dignity and yet modesty.
"There are things in this world that you do not know of. Magic to discover and Drak secrets to uncover... I am the Professor of a wizarding school, 'Hogwarts' "
Definitely a hobo.
"Look, whoever you are, there is no such thing as magic, and I have my problems to deal with. SO why Don't you have a cup of tea, some scones and get with it." I said with a hint of annoyance.
"Ah, I see. Perhaps a quick demonstration would help?" He winked and looked up. Suddenly, the chandelier that was perfectly fit, began shaking violently; as if attacked by an earthquake.
Before I could react, it stopped. Albus looked at me again with a small smile.
"Coincidence." I said, unsure.
"I see" he muttered.
"Well, can this be a coincidence?" he said and held my hand in a vice grip.
Before I could move away, the place started swaying. I felt queasy and like I was falling down a black hole. I squeezed my eyes shut.
Suddenly we landed on soft ground. I looked around me. A forest?
"Well?" he said grinning now.
"Uh... Look, I have to go! where are we?" I asked.
"Forest of Ardene." He said.
"HOW?" I asked. Now I was curious.
"Magic" he said.
Before I could catch my breath, I felt queasy again.
"So, I assume you are not doubtful anymore?" he asked. I looked at him in awe. He gave me a piercing glance. Then he smiled and said, "An academic yer at Hogwarts often begins when a witch or wizard is 11 years old. I guess we will have to just enroll you as a 5Th year. "
"Look I dont have the money required to enroll and I cant do magic!" I said with an air of defeat. This man was looking for the wrong person in the wrong place.
Dumbledore sighed and put a reassuring hand on my shoulder, "I know. That's why I am asking you to join for free. Anyway, I shall send someone to pick you up tomorrow. You will learn by then."
Before I could say anything else He disappeared.
