In Harry Potter, when Grindelwald has the Elder Wand, JK Rowling says that Dumbledore defeated him. But later on, she says that the master of the wand cannot be defeated.So how did Grindelwald lose?

JKR says the wand cant be defeated by another wand. but a wand is nothing if the other has more power and knows more spells. also, there is a possibility that he wasnt the true owner. that's what i think. besides, it's kind of difficult for a wand to defeat everyone if the oppoment is better and Dumbledore was said to be the most powerful wizard.
