Three and a half years later
I walk into the Okoshi Inn.
"One room for one night please." I tell the inn keeper. He grunts and gives me the key for my room. I barley smile at him, as I resist the urge to whack him across the mouth.
I've seen enough of these losers for the past three years to last me a life time. I think sourly.
I unlock the door to the room and throw my bag down on the tiny bed and decide to go to the hot springs.
I strip down to nothing and put on a towel to cover me. Except the towel sucks, only reaching a few inches above my knee, when I would rather it went past it. I sigh and open the curtain to the springs. I'm the only one there, so I take off the towel and step into the spring.
"This feels so good." I sigh happily. I sink in lower and relax. "I wish Naruto and Sakura was here." I whisper sadly. "It can't be helped I guess."
I think back to when Lady Tsunade gave me this mission.
"Alexis." Tsunade says.
"Yes?"
"You'll be going on a mission." She says cryptically. I lean forward just the slightest.
"What for?" I say.
"Before I tell you, you have to promise not to freak out." She says calmly. I look at her suspiciously.
"Ok." I say slowly.
"You'll be going to The land of Lightning to investigate something."
"And that issss?"
"You'll be going to the Land of Lightning, to see about Sasuke." She says, watching my reaction. For a second I stand there, paralyzed.
"Sasukes, there?" I ask evenly. She nods.
"I noticed that for a while after Sasuke left, unlike Sakura and Naruto, you didn't care." She says. I nod because it's true. That night when Sasuke left, I decided to forget about him and train so when I do find him, I could beat him, so I could kill him. While Naruto and Sakura where freaking out trying to find him I wasn't. "And a year later, that’s when you started to look for him. But it wasn't for the same reason Naruto and Sakura where, and it still isn't. I don't know what your plan is, but I'm giving you this mission for a number of reasons. You are the most level headed Chonin, you and Sasuke where friends, he left with Orochimaru, and even though I don't know what it is, you both have unfinished business." I nod.
"Who will be my team?" I ask. She shakes her head.
"You're on your own."
