The New Order

“Deathana! Come on!” yelled my mom. I groaned and rolled out of my bed. Living in the Underworld seems like its fun when it really isn’t. It’s all work. Work, work, work and more work! My sister Alexis, or Al as she is better known, is the “Overlady” of Tartarus. She has it easy! All she has to do is make sure that the monsters and the Titans stay in the pit! While I’m sent to the Overworld and Mont. Olympus to do business with the gods and mortals! I also have to help guide all the lost souls to where Thanatos is so then he can send them on their merry way to the Underworld! That’s a lot of work being put onto my shoulders. At least I don’t have to hold up the sky like Atlas. Now that’s a job I don’t want to have.

“I’m not getting any older down here!” yelled my mom a second time.

“Coming!” I yelled back and quickly changed into my clothes. A black and blue partial tank top with a black skirt that had two blue belts and a purple belt. Quickly putting on my blue shoes and brushed my hair, I went down the stairs to where my mom was waiting for me in the dining room. She grabbed my hand and started pulling me along through the winding castle that we lived in.

“Where are we going Mom?” I asked as she dragged me behind. She didn’t answer. I sighed.

Looks like I have a long day ahead of me I thought.
“Open, look, and enjoy” she said, pointing at the door. I looked at her, then at the door. I decided to open it. I reached for the knob and turned it. Opening the door, I found myself face to face with a black panther that had blue hair tips on its tail and paws.

“His name is Nightshade, your Dad and I got him for you since you’ve been working so hard” Mom said.

“Thank you!” I said happily and hugged her. Nightshade came up to me and started rubbing against my leg.

“You silly Billy” I said and laughed as I reached to scratch behind his ear. He leaned into it and I giggled. I then heard a round of barking coming from the distance.

“Looks like there’s trouble”, I said, “Nightshade, let’s go check it out!” We started running to the entrance of the Underworld where the trials were held. Cerberus usually stood guard there, but he didn’t bark like this. It sounded like a tornado just hit us. We slowed down by Tartarus to find Cerberus barking at something.

“What is it boy?” I asked. Cerberus looked at me with all three of his heads. He then turned to back to Tartarus and continued barking. I walked over to where he was standing. I looked over the edge to find a large hand coming out of the pit. It tried to grab me, but before it could, a large body leapt in front of me and bit it. A squeal of pain sounded from below and the hand retreated into the abyss. The body in front of me turned around and I found that it was my panther, Nigthshade! He had three heads and was a little bit smaller then Cerberus. He then began to shrink and two of his heads disappeared.

“Thank you Nightshade” I said hugging him. He purred and licked my face. I giggled.

“Cerberus, thank you for sounding the alarm, why don’t you go back to the entrance and I’ll make sure you get something special tonight for dinner” I said. Cerberus barked happily and ran off.

“Come on Nightshade, I have some business to take care of in the Overworld” I said and we went on our merry way.
