Introduction :)

by: Shayme
The sound of my alarm clock buzzing annoyingly really started to get on my nerves. I hit the snooze button, and I sat upright instantly. "Good morning world, and also to Ra for the sunlight that he provided with us today" I repeated. I was taught to say that every morning when I saw the sun. And by now, I'm betting that you already guessed where I live. When I was dressed in my usual pale blue tank top and a pair of shorts, I walked down to the kitchen. As I pulled a bottle of water from my fridge, I heard a familiar shouting voice. " Saila!" He shouted happily. "Hey 'Rett" I siad happily. I grew up with my best friend Everett. "What's wrong Saila?" Everett asked concerned. I didn't know that I was looking upset, but I guess I was. "Oh...my bad. I didn't know I looked upset" I lied. I knew I was upset, I was just trying not to look like it. Yesterday, Everett said that he wanted to talk to me, so we planned to take a walk. "Are you all ready?" He asked happily. I looked through his eyes, through the happiness he was using as a shield. I knew what I saw. "Why are you wearing a long sleeve shirt?" I asked as I fanned my face. "I'm just kinda cold" He lied. I was the only one who knew when he was lying, but I played as if I didn't. "Are you sure you're ok Saila?" He asked concerned. He waved a hand infront of my face, and I focused my attention to him, and sighed. "I kinda want to clean the house today. I just don't really want to go out today. Can we go tomorrow?" I asked sweetly. He looked at me and shook his head. "Everett! I just want to clean. I'm not going anywhere today" I said happily. He looked at me knowingly, and I knew that I was stretching the truth just a little bit. "I really hope not" He said with a hint of anger in his voice. As soon as Everett was out of sight, I ran up to my room, and laid on my bed. "He's turned to the dark side. My best friend!" I said unhappily. Even though I hated the idea...I knew what I had to do. I grabbed my suitcase from the bottom part of my closet, and I used the extendable charm on it. When I packed EVERYTHING I had, I walked downstairs. I heard the usual rustle of being so close to Central Square. I had everything that I wanted packed after another few hours. When I had my stuff packed, I took my suitcase to the backyard, and I opened my carpet so it was laid out infront of me. I know that we have that typical stereotype, that all of the carpets are a royal colour, with fringes around the perimeter. I shook my head, as I remembered all the stereotypes about my people. "Up!" I said firmly. My carpet responded instantly, and I loaded my suitcase in the center. "Kalona!" I hissed unhappily. He flew down to me, and perched on my arm. "Come along Kalona. It's time we leave my people and make a new name for ourselves" I siad unhappily. He hooted in response, and I smiled. "Good" I siad happily. "Alahomora" I siad as I pointed my wand towards my window to my room. "Go and get whatever you want to take with you" I said as I mounted onto my carpet, and flew to my window. Kalona flew into my room, and I saw him look at all of the things that I had laid out for him. He chose to take him catching disk. "Come on Kal" I siad as I motioned for my carpet to go up. "SAILA!" Someone shouted angrily. I looked down, and I saw Everett and Johan talking to each other angrily, and then they brought their wands out angrily. "Kalona!" I shouted. He followed my voice, and the 2 of us flew as fast as we could. Away from my people. "Looks like we're going into enemy territory" I said to Kalona as soon as we landed when it became dusk. He hooted in response, and I knew that if he could talk, he would tell me that Johan and Everett would never find me, and that we'd be safe. I smiled at him, and offered my wrist to him. He jumped up, and I brought my arm into my lap. I stroked hid deep brown feathers, and he looked at me. "It's ok now Kalona. We're going to be safe. I promise that nothing is going to happen to you" I said unhappily. He hooted, and I sighed. "I saw her fly this way" A voice shouted angrily. "Looks like it's time for me to face my fears" I siad as I re-packed all of my stuff. I put the fire out as quickly as I could, and I lifted my suitcase back onto my carpet. "Come on Kalona" I whispered. The 2 of us flew for as long as we had to, night and during the day. We rested when we needed to, and by the time we were out of Egypt, I felt the burden be lifted from my shoulders.

2 Days later

"Miss Molena. How may I help you?" The Minister of Magic in Britain asked happily. I knew that there was a hint of hurry in his voice. "If I'm keeping you from something important, I can always come back later" I offered. "No! I-I mean that I can help a girl with a problem as long as it isn't a little problem that someone like Dumbledore could handle." He said unhappily. "W-who's Dumbledore?" I asked curiously. "You're not from here. Are you?" He asked knowingly. I know that he finally noticed my description, and I sighed. "I-I wanted to know if it would be possible to transfer to the school here" I whispered. "You want to transfer to Hogwarts?" He asked incredibly. I nodded slightly, and he smiled. "Do you have your parents agreement?" He asked as he leaned across his desk to look at me further. "I do not have parents anymore. They have left me on my own since I was young. It is the ritual of my people" I said unhappily. "Y-you said it was the ritual of your people. What do you mean?" He asked shocked. "I am a descendant of the great god Ra" I said unhappily. "Th-the Egyptian sun god?" He asked shocked. I nodded and pleaded with him. "Please don't let anyone know about this?" I asked hopefully. He nodded knowingly, and I sighed happily. "Do you have anywhere to stay?" He asked curiously. "I do not live anywhere. I live on my own, anywhere I can a place to lay my head" I said knowingly. I knew that he was going to insist that I stay with an unfamiliar family. "I am going to Hogwarts right now. Will you accompany me?" He asked knowingly. I nodded, and he got out of his seat, and stood beside my chair. "What about my Kalona?" I asked scared. "Who?" He asked confused. "Kalona!" I shouted happily. He hooted in response, and I smiled back up at the Minister. "I will have Heather bring all of your things. But please come along. We have no time to waste" He said unhappily. I nodded, and sighed. I stood up, and took his arm. We apparated to this new school, and I felt as if a part of me was gone. Kalona was always with me. He never left my side since I was 7. "Welcome Minister" A hearty voice said happily. I hid behind him, and the Minister looked beside him, but then turned around to see me. "It's alright child. Dumbledore will not hurt you" He said happily. I looked and saw only truth in his eyes. I stepped out from behind the Minister, and I knew who I saw. "S-Saila?" He asked surprised. I nodded, and shook his hand shyly. "What are you doing here? I thought that you needed to stay in your city with your people?" He asked confused. Back when I was 12, Albus came to Egypt for a vacation. He 'was drawn' to the place where my people have dwelled to worship Ra. There he was informed of me, and he had to meet me. "The Darkness has already rooted itself in my people" I sighed. He nodded solemnly, and I half-smiled. "The reason the girl is here, is because she has now transferred here. I would hope you take care of her" The Minister said happily. Albus nodded knowingly, and I followed him into the place he told me about 3 years ago. He called it his Great Hall. "Hagrid, can you give the girl a special place beside Prof. McGonagall and myself?" Albus asked a large man with a dark colored beard. "Aye. Right away Dumbledore" He siad as he walked in the direction we were. "Saila. I will sort you after you have something to eat. You haven't eaten since your trip, haven't you?" He asked knowingly. I nodded, and sighed. "I've only fed Kalona. He's more important than I am" I said bravely, ready to absorb the rebuke I was waiting for. "You care deeply about him, don't you?" He asked knowingly. "We've been together for 8 years. I was not going to risk his health for mine" I said unhappily. Albus nodded understandingly, and I sat in the Great Hall, beside him, and an older looking woman. "Albus. Why is this girl here, and not sitting with her house?" The woman asked as all attention at Albus' table was focused at me. "She has just arrived Minerva. Do not be so adamant. The girl will be sorted after the feast" Albus said coming to my rescue. "Thank you Headmaster" I said under my breath. When kids my age, younger, older, started to file into the Great Hall, I watched as the different houses all sat at specific tables. "What's a girl doing Dumbledore? She's supposed to sit with her table" A voice rang out after Dumbledore had silenced them. "Mister Flint!" Minerva scolded. "It's alright Minerva. The girl has just arrived Mr. Flint. I will sort her after we have announced something very special." Dumbledore siad happily. After that, everyone's attention turned to me inevitably. "Saila?" Albus asked happily. I met his eye, and I knew what he wanted. "Yes. Headmaster" I said as I stood up angrily. "Saila Melona is her name. I don't want her to be treated unfairly because she has transferred at this time. She will be a 5th year" Albus said happily. "I will go. I can tell that there is many unhappy students. You can send someone for me after" I whispered angrily. He looked at me, and I knew what he was thinking. "I'm not stupid. I can take care of myself. I have been since I was little" I reasoned. Before he could argue. "As for you Mr. Flint" I sneered his name. "You better hope you don't get on my bad side" I growled. I walked out of the Great Hall, and I went outside. I did not know where I would be going, but I didn't mind. As long as I wasn't the abnormal one. I finally found myself at a lake. The glare from the moon made it look like it was black water. "Ra. As your daughter, and holder of your power. I ask for you to give your light to me." I whispered happily. I cupped my hands infront of me, and I felt that familiar feeling inside of me. I felt a little drained, but not too badly. A flash of light appeared infront of me, and I saw a ball of light in my hands. "Again. Ra. You have made me proud to be the one to descend from your roots and harness your power" I siad happily. A thought passed through my mind. I split the light into 2 pieces, and I sighed. "Ra. Holder of light. Master of the sun and all of it's positivism. I request that you take this one piece of your sacred light, and give it to our people. To keep the Darkness away from the sacred ones" I said as I lifted the one half to the sky. It was raised to the sky, and I sighed. "Thank you your highness. You will never forget the choice you made this night" I siad as I focused my attention to the light I had. "U-uum. Saila?" a female's voice asked confused. I turned my attention to a pale white haired girl, and she smiled genuinely at me. "Has Albus sent you for me?" I asked knowingly. "Yes. I'm your escort" She siad happily. "Thank you child. You have shown yourself to be a genuinely happy hearted girl" I siad happily. "Come along" She siad happily. "I do not know your name, but yet, you know mine" I siad curiously. "My name? Luna" She siad happily. "Luna." I laughed to myself. "Is something funny?" She asked curiously. "Your name means 'Moon.' My Name means 'Sun'" I giggled. I saw Luna smile, and we walked in silence inside the school. "What was the big announcement that Albus made?" I asked curiously. "He just announced that the Tri-Wizard Competition was going to be hosted here" She siad as she shrugged her shoulders. I sighed and nodded knowingly. We walked up to Dumbledore's office, and I knocked on the door. "Come in" His familiar voice said happily. "Luna. You have done a soul well. I thank that Ra, and the goddess of the moon take care of you" I siad happily. "I'll see you around: She siad happily. That girl was a very sweet girl when I got to know her better. "Ah. Saila" Dumbledore siad happily. "Take away my impediment. Please. I'm begging you" I said unhappily. He looked at me like I had lost my mind. "I'm not a normal girl, but no one is normal in their own way, but I can't handle it. I talk like I have been around for hundreds of years, like I was around with Ra." I cried. "I'm not going to take away the way you speak. This is the way you know that Ra hasn't left you" He siad happily. He motioned for me to follow him, and I did to a back stool, with a tattered hat on a high shelf. "Sorting?" I asked knowingly. He nodded, and he grabbed the hat. I walked over to the pheonix, and I smiled. "Hello there baby girl." I siad happily. She looked at me with questioning eyes. "No need to be worried. You have no need" I siad soothingly. "You speak with grace and fluency" Dumbledore said happily. I smiled slightly, and sat on the stool like I knew that I would. "Interesting" The hat said happily. "Hello" I said happily. I smiled, and the hat continued on. "You have a bit of a temper. Bravery. Courage. Wit. Modesty. Humility. You can also be a follower as well as a leader." The hat siad happily. I looked to Dumbledore the same time the hat did. "I suggest you give the girl the Gryffindor badge" The hat siad happily. "Thank you" I siad knowingly. "Yes, child" The hat said as it was removed from my head.
