How to have popular stories

Hello everybody. I recently had some stories written. i was wondering that if the reads and comments were slow because it is new or some other reason. I am also a recent new member. actually more like i got addicted recently. so i was wondering, what makes popular stories? is it time or the content? or is it the tags you include? or perhaps how many friends you have...Give me any comments plz! ^_^

Honestly? What makes a story popular is that it's:
A) Centred around the top celeb of today OR vampires/werewolves/mythical creatures
B) Centred around a threesome or perfect couple with jealous ex-friend
C) Heavy on romance.
Bingo! Apparently stories that have none or very little of the above don't get much. The amount of time you spend on it, the length of chapters, the excellence of your writing....seems to have very little to do with the success of it.

I've seen stories that were AMAZING and had barely any reads and a couple of comments. Then a crap story that had poor (if any XD) writing skills with a badly-thought-out plot had hundreds of reads, loads of five star votes, and hundreds of comments all saying how brilliant it was. I don't get it. :S I've pretty much given up on writing stories. But much luck to you!!!!!
Really, story popularity and general interest/comments are as variable as actually publishing a book. You just have to hit it at the right time with the right people, and there's no telling when the the time is correct for that story. Just keep writing and improving your skill, and eventually at least you will have a couple of fans. And who knows? You might have hundreds, or even thousands of fans! It seriously is unpredictable.
