You can do lots, u can place red stone down and with a lever turn it on. if its by a door it will open the door and it moves pistons. Its basically electricity so just experiment :)

It can be used in lots of things. It's basically the equivalent of electricity in minecraft. It can be used in compasses, which are extremely helpful if you're like me, and tend to get lost easily. :P It can also be used in clocks, (Clocks, clocks, one can never have too many clocks!) dispensers, powered rails, note blocks (which are always fun) and a number of other things.

you can use it for traps, secret doors, levers, mine carts(so you can go faster on them), and sell them for lots of money (if you are playing online)
