Star Wars (Clone Wars): Normal Insanity
This is a fanfiction. Star Wars belongs to George Lucas.
This story takes place during the Clone Wars. If some details are messed up, then forgive me and just enjoy the story anyways. It's not going to be going by the books- I'm going to make up my own past with all of this... oh well. =P This is for fun!
Chapter 1
Prologue
Obi-Wan Kenobi knew that bringing Padawan Edarra Kari on the diplomatic mission was going to result in disaster.
It wasn't that Edarra wasn't a good listener or anything, it was just a feeling he had had at the beginning of the mission. Obi-Wan had informed his Master, Qui-Gon Jinn, about his feelings, but Qui-Gon had told him that they needed to go ahead with the vital mission. Unfortunately, the so-called 'diplomatic' mission didn't go like it was supposed to. Obi-Wan and Qui-Gon had almost been killed. The diplomacy of the mission was lost. Naboo's occupation became worse. Difficulties went on between the two Jedi and the Gungan people. But then, a light of hope came through. On the planet of Tatooine, Obi-Wan, Qui-Gon Jinn, a servant of the Queen named Padme (who they later learned was actually Naboo's Queen herself), found a young boy named Anakin Skywalker. Qui-Gon had believed that he could be the Chosen One, so through some lengthly events, they won the boy and set him free, bringing him back to Coruscant to be trained. It was decided that Obi-Wan would train young Skywalker. Unfortunately, Qui-Gon didn't live to see this come to pass. He was killed by a Sith- one who uses the Dark Side of the Force- and Obi-Wan had been helpless to save his Master. Along with this, Padawan Keri had been lost. She had been searched for, but now there was no hope for her case. A funeral had been held for her and for Qui-Gon. Even though they had found the Chosen One, Obi-Wan couldn't help but feel that he had failed.
"I'm sorry, Qui-Gon,"
~
Anakin Skywalker was excited. He couldn't help it- he was really a Padawan! He was on his way to being a Jedi. It was what he had dreamed about all his life. Plus, he had run into the prettiest girl in the whole galaxy, which made this journey even cooler. Padme was amazing. She didn't treat him as a little kid, like most people did, and... maybe he had a little bit of a crush on her. Anakin was sorry about the deaths of Qui-Gon Jinn and Edarra Keri, but frankly, he was too busy thinking about all the amazing things that were going on to care all that much.
"Anakin,"
The boy jerked back to reality. He turned around, finding himself looking into the face of his Master, Obi-Wan Kenobi. "Uh... yes Master?"
"You need to be meditating, Anakin."
"Oh, right," Anakin shot a small smile and got back in position. Meditation was boring... But you have to, if you want to be a Jedi. With a bit of reluctance, Anakin went on meditating.
~
Her eyes opened a crack. "What.... where am I?" A sharp pain shot down her leg, and she heard a peircing scream.
"Stop the noise, you'll be fine in a minute." The metallic voice of a man said.
The girl's eyes widened. She had been the one screaming? "I... what's going on?"
"You were attacked by Tuskan Raiders."
"And you saved me... why?" She felt a pull on her leg, and grimaced so that she wouldn't scream again. It must be broken.
The man didn't respond. She tried to see who he was, but he seemed to be an expert at keeping out of sight. He had a large brown hat covering his face and head. Finally, he said, "I'll tell you who I am when you tell me who you are."
The girl sensed danger. Nothing good would come out of telling this unknown stranger anything, and she knew it. Raising her hand slightly and waving it, she said, "You don't want to know who I am."
"Ah, so you're a Jedi. I figured as much."
The girl blinked. "Who are you?" She demanded, wanting to know how this man blocked out the Force.
"The deal still stands. You speak first."
The girl let out a sigh of frustration. "My name is Padawan Edarra Keri. And you are...?"
The man backed away, and finally Edarra could see his face. He was a blue-skinned alien... Duros, by the look of it. He also had strange-looking breathing tubes on his neck which gave him a rather villianous appearance.
"Cad Bane, bounty hunter." He stood up and smiled down at her. "And you, Keri, are going to be working for me."
"What makes you think I would ever accept the proposal of a bounty hunter?" Edarra asked fiercly.
"I think you will." Bane pulled out a small metal object out of his coat. Edarra's lightsaber. He activated the blue blade, his smile widening slightly, a wicked gleam in his red eyes. "Master Solo Analyn wouldn't have been impressed with your weapon falling into my hands, now would he?"
Edarra shut her eyes tightly. "Don't talk about him."
"Your Master was killed because you couldn't save him." Bane taunted, waving the lightsaber slowly.
"What makes you say that?" Edarra asked icily, her voice filling with fear and anger. He couldn't know what happened to Master Analyn. She had blamed herself the last five months inwardly, but she thought she had it under control.
Bane looked down on her. "I know more than you think, Keri. Now. I believe I have an assignment for you in 48 hours."
Edarra looked up into the bounty hunter's eyes, her own eyes gleaming with hatred. No one else would die because she couldn't save them. No one would die at the hand of her lightsaber unless she struck. With her mind blurred by anger and confusion, she said the words. "I accept."
