Chapter 1
Moving On To Another Life And A Great Friend
La, her real name being Kayla, was a young girl. Age 7 to be exact. She had dark blonde hair and blue eyes. She was born and raised in New York in America. She was moving from her birth place to her Grandmother's birth place, Liverpool, England. Her parents said it would be best for her to go liver there because there wasn't much where she lived. La thought it was a horrible plan though. She would be moving away from her friends. She heard England always rained. She even heard that Liverpool was a terrible place. Alot of sickness and more boring than her life now. La would be leaving 7am on Monday. She didn't like the fact it was so early, but it would give her a chance to say goodbye to New York.
It was Sunday. She thought about having to be the new kid at a new school in a new place. She would take her last day in America and play with her friends, who she wouldn't see in a long time. For all she knew it could have been her last. La took a walk through the park looking at all the kids having a fun time, with their friends knowing that they would be here for years maybe while she would not. La thought about the good things about moving, getting rid of all her troubles would be one... All she could think off. It wouldn't be worth it though. It was 6pm and she had to say her final goodbyes to her friends and go home for dinner. She didn't eat much. The feeling of leaving was depressing. She lay in her bed for hours thinking about everything. She finaly fell asleep.
Monday was here. Bright and early her mother woke her up. The family had already packed their things and were off to the airport. She was sleeping the whole way there.
She woke up in Liverpool. La saw the gloomy place. At this point it was 3pm. She put her cases of things in her new home. Her parents decided to visit their Gramdmother. Her Grandmother was working in the Hospital as a nurse for children. It wasn't too far away from their new home. They went to the front desk and asked to see her. The lady at the desk told them she was in room 53 on the first floor.
They walked down the hall into the room. She was caring for a boy about La's age. He had brown hair, had a somewhat big nose, his eyes were closed so La didn't see the color of them and he didn't look very tall but not exactly very short either. He was laying on his side facing her. Her Grandmother noticed them.
"Oh hello! It's nice to see you all. It's been a while!" The family were all hugging one another.
The boy must have been confused because he opened his eyes and got up a little to see who his nurse was talking to. La finaly saw the boy had the bluest eyes in the world, bluer than her own. Being 7 she never thought about crushes or love or even how cute a boy was. She always knew that it doesn't last ever. She just couldn't ignore him. He was pretty cute, adorable! NO NO NO! Stop thinking like that! I don't like him, I don't even know him! Why should I like someone I don't know? Her thoughts. She was sure she was blushing. Her Grandmother, parents and brother walked out of the room. They thought she was behind them, but she was still in the room with the boy.
The 2 children stared at eachother for a while until he said "Hi."
"Hi."
"I'm Richard, Richard Starkey. You can call me Rich or Richie if you want. You?"
"Kayla Smith. You can call me La if you want."
"Pretty name."
"No, it isn't so pretty, I think it's normal."
"I've never heard the name before. I guess it's not common. You're special!"
"No i'm not, I'm only me."
"Your name is rare I think. Richard is a very common name though..."
"I like it."
"Why? I don't."
"I don't know, I just do."
They smiled at eachother until La said
"What are you in for?"
Richie lifted his shirt showing his scars.
"Appendix, I got really sick and i've been here for a,most a year. I was in a coma. They said I can go home soon."
"At least you can go home. I just moved here from America."
"How is America like?"
"Like here I suppose."
They sat there and talked about their likes and dislikes and hobbys and such for a while until the kids heard
"Kayla? Where are you?"
"In here mom!"
Her mother walked in. She said
"Make a new friend?"
Her daughter replied
"Yeah! He lives near us!"
La introduced Richie and her parents.
It was finally 8pm and they had to go home. 'At least I made a new friend.' La thought as she fell asleep.
