His voice boomed off the large tree trunks that surrounded us. Wary, I took a step back in the thick growing grass. His dark brown eyes followed every move I made. I wanted to run, but I was no match for him. I wanted to scream, but I couldn't find my voice. He chuckled. Like he could hear my thoughts. He knew exactly how helpless I was. I was the gazelle and he was the mighty lion, ready to pounce on his prey. He taunted me by moving slowly in a half circle toward me. My feet felt nailed to soft ground under me. I was paralyzed by his gaze. Once he was close enough for me to feel his breath on my cheek, close enough for him to hear my racing heart beat, he spoke. His voice was rough and husky in my ear, nothing like that first time I had met him. This is what he'd been planning all along and I fell right into his pattern. His charm and beauty had deceived me. Oliver had been right all along, but I was lead to believe he was the bad guy. I pushed the only person trying to help away. That's precisely what he had wanted all along, and he got it.
