Harry Potter group story sample chapter #1 (the one due the 31st)
Chapter 1
* * * *
Okay. I know it's past the due date, but I was really busy with school... I don't know if that's a good reason or not... but yeah.
Alexandra's POV
I stepped onto the Hogwarts express, and looked for my friends in each compartment. Finally, I found Sarah, sitting with her friends Bridget and Andrew.
"--So how's your dad doing?" Bridget asked Sarah.
"/What?/" I asked, extremely surprised. Sarah never knew her dad, for he had left her family long ago. Sarah and her friends never talked about him before, not even once.
Bridget, Andrew, and Sarah's faces all went red, which seemed to be because of nervousness.
"Oh--" said Bridget, "I meant--I meant your mom, Sarah. How is she?"
"Good," answered Sarah.
I stared at them. "What was that all about?" I asked slowly.
"Nothing," Sarah replied quickly.
I sat down, still completely puzzled. And before I could stop myself, I asked, "So...you--you don't know about your dad?"
"No!" Sarah snapped.
"But then why--"
"It's none of your business, okay?" she hissed.
I was always extremely sensitive, so I sadly put my head down, and walked out of the compartment. I could tell Sarah felt bad, because just as I opened the door, she said, "Look--I'm sorry. Can you forgive me?"
"Fine," I responded.
"But--can you--um--wait outside for a second? Don't worry, I just need to talk in private with Bridget and Andrew for a minute."
"Sure."
I left the compartment, leaning against the door. And as I waited, I heard something I probably shouldn't have.
"So, how is your dad, now that we're alone?" Bridget asked.
"Dunno. Hope he's okay. I sent him an owl yesterday, and I hope he responds soon." Sarah said.
"Er...you sent him an owl? I...I don't think owls can get into Azkaban, you know," Andrew said slowly.
Bridget laughed. "Andrew. Haven't you heard the news? He escaped Azkaban."
"He did? That's awesome! I wonder how, though. I mean, Azkaban's supposed to be like, impossible to escape from."
"Yeah," Sarah said happily, "maybe he'll tell me how in his response to my letter. We better let Alex back in here now, it's been about a minute, I think."
She opened the door, and I sat down on a chair in the compartment.
"So, what's up?" she asked me.
"Nothing really," I said.
But that was a lie. Because I'd just found out that one of my best friend's father was a murderer, and she still appreciated him. And he wasn't just any murderer. He told You-Know-Who where his best friends were hiding. And his best friends were Lilly and James Potter. But if Sarah, who I had know to be very kind, generous, and loyal, still loved him, was he really guilty?
