My Unfortunately True Story
Follow the story of me, 13 year old girl, as I live out my life. You get updates of things that matter to someone this age, and I get to write a diary-type thingy. Most people will be given aliases as I do not want them all to know my close, personal secrets I am sharing. Comment if you want more!
Chapter 1
Intro and Situations
Call me Em. Just Em. Regrettably this is not my name, but I need it not to be. I am 13 and I am in eighth grade. I live in California. My life has been slightly weird lately, and that's why I felt compelled to start this true story. Needless to say I'm about you're average girl, with the issues of an average girl's concern plus maybe a little more. Anyways since this is an introduction let me give you a brief description of a few of my friends. Just friends, I don't have a best friend and I don't really plan to. Not that my friends aren't good to me or anything, I like them, just all equally.
Kathy is great friend who has brown hair that isn't curly, but, rather, wavy and she always straightens it. She has blue gray eyes and some freckles. She's kinda chubby and she's Italian. She went to elementary school with me, but we became friends in middle school. We share interests in music and other random things.
Jonah is a guy who has brown hair that is in a half bowl cut. He has green blue eyes and some freckles. He's not fat, but not lanky, but who gives a crap, he's a guy. I don't know exactly what ethnicity he is. Let's just say he's white, like me. We went to elementary school together but have really grown in the past about six months. We share interests in almost everything.
Cat was my friend since sixth grade when she transferred to my elementary school. She has really curly brownish-black hair that goes to her chin. She has brown eyes and she is Mexican. She is rather skinny. We share interests in singing and acting, which we both like to do, but she is inevitably better at. Screw her talent. I love her though (no homo).
* * * * * * * *
At the beginning of eighth grade last August, Kathy was with Jonah. The relationship hadn't gotten farther than a peck on the lips, considering we're in middle school, but we aren't whores. It wouldn't have gone farther than kissing. But considering they had been dating for almost a year at that point it was a little ridiculous they had only kissed once and it was nothing.
Sadly, their relationship was wavering and they broke up, according to Kathy, on their one year anniversary (I do think she got her dates mixed up a little). Who broke up with who is still unclear to me to this day. Its complex.
Anyways, Cat and Jonah always went to the movies with a friend of Cat's named Ben. Ben is a quiet guy, but he later proved himself a d!(k. Basically he takes the term "if you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything at all" to heart, in other words, whenever he does talk its something mean, and he only tells Cat, because he knows Cat will still be his friend. She's known to be a bit of a pushover. Poor Cat was setting herself up to be heart broken. It was just going to the movies for Ben, but for Cat it was more. She did like him then (as far as I know), but doesn't anymore.
Sorry. Off topic. So Cat, Jonah, and Ben made it almost a ritual to go to the movies once every two months of so. At about the beginning of winter break, Jonah and Kathy had just broken up.
Jonah and I had a mutual relationship, but we didn't know too much about each other. I had Jonah's number for a while, but on the bus ride home from the last day before winter break I felt compelled to text him, so I did. We texted a LOT over the first few days of winter break... And he invited me to go to one of their world famous movie days I never got invited to before then.
Cat was all for it, she said "I like the boy to girl ratio to be even." and I apparently balanced that out. I was excited. I had a new outfit for the occasion. We found out that the only day we could all go was-believe it or not- New Year's Eve. So I convinced Cat to have a party at her house (my parents would never let me have a party). Not exactly a party, just us four until midnight.
So there was a lot of flirting going on between then and New Year's Eve, needless to say not between Cat and Ben. We had really nice conversations. We always said how the other person was so sweet or so funny. It was hard not to. He was being really charming. In one conversation, for example, I said something funny (I can't remember what) and I said, "I know, I'm a card."
It's a stupid phrase, I know but I said it. Then he said,"I know what card you'd be... The ace of hearts."
"Kind of awkward moment," I thought, then I said, "haha, and if you were a card, you'd be the king of hearts lol" trying to play it off smoothly.
Then he said,"If I'm the king of hearts, then you must be the queen."
"HOLY SHIZ." I thought. My mind had exploded into a million pieces, then resummoned into a whole being again.
I played it off as cooly as possible. We had a seemingly endless conversation about our feelings towards each other afterwards. He said he felt very conflicted about it all. I told him he didn't know what was going on in his heart, and that I was okay with that. I was FREAKING OUT. I lied. What I said was a lie. I was not okay with that. I just about shot myself out of suspense (not literally {swear}).
The next morning he blamed everything he said on being what I like to term "sleep drunk." Drunk on sleep, or rather, the lack thereof. Although I can kinda relate to the feeling, Cat said he was definitely lying.
The same kinda thing went on until New Year's. Very flirtatious. I arrived at the movie theater first, then came Ben, lastly Cat and Jonah came together in a carpool. We had decided to go see the new Sherlock Holmes movie. We went in the theater and Ben bought a large soda and Jonah bought a large popcorn and a soda. Cat and I didn't want anything, but prior to the event Jonah made me promise to eat some popcorn (I did offer to pay half, he declined). We went into the theater and Cat and I thought the seating would be like this:
(Jonah)(Em)(Cat)(Ben)
But Jonah blocked my entrance to the row so the seating was actually:
(Em)(Jonah)(Cat)(Ben)
And something I couldn't help but notice. L's are the armrests.
L (Em)(Jonah) L (Cat)(Ben) L
Because I was sitting next to a fat stranger and Jonah had a soda, as well as the fact that Ben had a soda. It was quite clearly relationship lines. Either of us could've put down the armrest at any time. We shared lots of laughs throughout the movie. He freakin pigged down the popcorn. I had maybe 8 kernels and the large thingy of popcorn was finished off about halfway through the movie. We went back to Cat's house and Jonah had to leave at 10. We watched inception until 2012. It was rather uneventful. Sadly.
For the next while nothing happened. We had to endure constant teasing and ridiculing from our friends for no good reason about each other. At a dance last month, he danced with a girl named Marry, they later went out for a day and a half, then she dumped him. She only went out with him because of pity; she told me herself. But anyways at the dance, he hugged me first out of all our friends. It was the first hug since the second week of January. I loved it. We've been hugging almost every day since... At least once. There's a few more irrelevant events from then to now, but let me tell you the things that have happened in the past week.
I have a friend named Jen. Jen liked Jonah, and told him. He didn't really like her back, but he asked her to formal. Now they're going out. It's kind of killing me inside. I wanted to ask Jonah to formal. I would've if it wasn't as far away, or at least I'd like to think so. Too bad really. I'm so awful. What to do?
I will continue this true diary of my life if I get... Let's say four comments. Considering eventful things will happen. I do think they will. Please comment if you want more or if you think it's okay.
