Chapter 2

Tied, Another Round

I wiped the sweat off my face as I picked up my racket from the ground. I grabbed the tennis ball from the hopper, and served the ball. It soared over the net, and hit Taylor's racket. As it flew over the mini net, I did a volley, but it didn't go over the net.

"Well," I said, "At least I'm still winning."
"But not for long!" Taylor said, as she served a tennis ball from her Hopper.
"Hey!! I wasn't ready!" I shouted, as the ball flew over my head.
"Oh well!" Taylor said.

Oh, by the way, I'm Nikki. I'm 16, and I'm dreaming of being a tennis star. But, I know It's not gonna come true.

"Who ya talking to?" Taylor yelled.
"Oh, your face!" I said.
"Hey, umm, Nikki, do you remember the score?"
"Umm...not really. Do you?"
"No. Lets just say that its tied! So, whoever gets the point, wins!"

We started again. And Taylor let me serve. I picked up my lucky ball, the one that is orange and yellow, not just plain yellow. I threw it up in the air, and I hit it. It flew in the air like a bird, no dips or drops, just in a straight line. It almost seemed as it was slow motion....and then Taylor hit it. She pushed, she punched it lets say. And as that flew over the net, as fast as a roller coaster going straight down, It was forced the opposite way by my racket. And as it rocketed toward Taylor's tennis racket, she missed. She missed! She Missed!!! I was So happy, like, fall over happy! I think I almost fainted, but, I didn't.

"Hey, Taylor! How do you feel?" I asked.
"Eh....okay, I guess." Taylor replied.
"Well, game's over, and, I gotta get a drink. I'm sweating like a pig!" I said.
"Well, we gotta go. Remember? We have to get back to our families. Because we promised the-" Taylor said, as I cut her off.
"Promise Shmomise. Who cares?" I told her.
"My Mom." Taylor said, as she thought of her Mom.
"Fine, we'll go. But then we have to come back tomorrow! Okay?" I asked, and said.
"Okay. So, bye!" Taylor said.

I walked home, alone. I went and got my phone, my racket, and my hopper, and walked home. I don't live that far away, In fact, I live near Taylor, but just we live in different neighborhoods. So, I walked home, and put my Hopper and my tennis racket in the garage, and went inside my house.
