The Accidental Mermaid
This is my first story, so it's pretty bad (and when i say pretty bad, i mean REALLY bad!). It's about a girl named Shay Richards who finds a mermaid spell online that has some life-changing results

Chapter 2 (sorry i couldn't come up with a chapter name!)
For the next few days, I continue to refuse to believe I'll become a mermaid. What's the point of believing anyway? I've got a bunch of track meets coming up and I really don't want to be distracted. Soon I've pretty much forgotten about the spell.
Weeks pass, and soon it's been a month since I've taken the spell.
I wake up and stare at my clock: it's 7:15 ; Pacific View High School starts in FIVE minutes, and I'm going to be late. "Crap!" I mutter under my breath, and jump out of bed. I throw on some clothes, and don't bother to eat breakfast or even brush my teeth before running out the door.
I slide into my seat as the bell for my first period class rings loudly. That was close. I feel a tap on my shoulder and turn around. It's Leah, looking at me and mouthing "Why were you almost late?" I shake my head at her, motioning that I'll tell her later, when she passes me a note:
Meet me in the bathroom NOW! Have you seen your hair today?
Love ya
~L
I self-consciously pat my hair down; it does feel tangled, before getting a hall pass with Leah to go to the bathroom.
"So," Leah asks, after brushing, parting, and braiding my black with blue tips hair, "Why were you late?"
"I overslept." I answer quickly, "Thanks for fixing my hair, it did look pretty bad!"
Leah smiles, showing me how much worse than just bad it actually was.
"I have to go to the bathroom." I say, "Meet you outside?" Leah nods, and walks out the door.
I walk out of the bathroom stall and run my hands under the water. Suddenly, my legs give way and I fall to the tiled bathroom floor with a loud SMACK! "Ow." I mutter, and try to pull myself up, and that's when I notice that I no longer have legs.
Instead of legs, I now have mermaid tail.
"Ho. Ly. Sh1t." I say slowly.
"That's not something a lady should say!" Leah calls from outside the bathroom, "What's wrong, Shay?"
"Nothing!" I exclaim quickly, and drag myself into a stall. "It's just... umm... Bad cramps!"
"Okay! Just call me if you need anything, honey!" Leah says, "And I can come over tonight with some romantic comedies (even though you hate those and would rather watch action movies) and chocolate!"
"Umm... sure!" I say "And you can go back to class without me! I'll be fine!"
"Byeeee!" Leah calls.
I breathe a sigh of relief when I hear her walking away. I look down at my tail; It's actually quite beautiful, and instead of my grey track tank top I wore today, I'm now wearing a sort of bikini top made out of the same stuff as my tail. How convenient. My tail starts out a bright blue like the ocean on a warm day, and then it fades into a sea green. It has an iridescent silvery shimmer to it, and looks like it has all the colors of the ocean in its scales.
I admit, It's pretty cool looking, but how the hell am I going to get my freaking legs back? I think back to time when I first saw the spell, and finally, an idea comes to me. The spell said I would only become a mermaid if and when I was wet, so the tail should probably come back when I'm dry!
I grab strip after strip of toilet paper and dry my hands, and slowly, my legs (and tank top) return.
I sit up. Wow. What a way to start my morning. What am I going to do if I wash my hands? How can I go to Leah's beach party, and furthermore, how am I supposed to tell Leah? Can I just pass her a note saying, "Oh, by the way, I didn't get bad cramps this morning. I actually sprouted a freaking MERMAID TAIL!"
So many questions swirl through my head, and I almost start crying; but can I even cry without my tail coming back? I take a deep breath, and walk back to class.
As soon as school ends, I run straight home and into the bathroom. Experiment time. I first spit into my hand (eww...) and see what happens. No tail. I'm able to get some tears out and I let them run down my face. No tail. I run my hand under the sink, just to be sure, and my tail returns. Okay, I think I'm getting the hang of this. Only real water can cause my tail to appear; not spit or tears. Now, I try getting my hand wet and drying it off as quickly as I can. The first time, I'm not fast enough, but on the seventh time, I've gotten it down. Good. Only a few more things to cover, and I know the one I'll try to do next. Swimming.
I wait until my mom gets home from work and then tell her I'm going to Leah's. I walk down my street until I reach the Pacific View Pool (I'll try the ocean when I'm gotten this mermaid thing down, and when I know that Evan Jacobs isn't having one of his famous blowout parties on the beach). I check to make sure the pool is closed, and that there isn't already someone swimming there. There isn't.
I clamber over the high fence to the pool. The moonlight is shining on the water, making it shimmer. I realize that I won't even have to change into a swimsuit thanks to the built-in bikini top I get when my tail appears. I set my towel on the edge of the pool, take off my flip flops, and without a second thought, dive into the pool.
I feel my tail appear as I cut through the still blue water of the pool. I've never felt this powerful or this free before. I always thought that running was the best feeling in the world, but this puts running in the dust! I love the quiet calm of the water, and the gentle, caressing feeling of it when it wraps around me. But as breathtaking as this is, I can't wait for the day that I get to swim in the ocean.
I swim for hours, and only break the surface when I realize that my mom will be getting worried if I don't get home soon. I heave myself out of the pool, dry myself off, and watch as my beautiful tail slowly transforms into legs. I climb back over the fence and walk home.
As I'm lying in bed, something occurs to me, according to the spell I'm getting "magical powers" in another month. Hmmm...
Comment if you want me to write more. Sorry, this chapter isn't that good
