It Took A Minute (One Direction Group Story)

As Carter was practically dragged upstairs by Louis(thankfully), I took a second to calm myself down as I peered into the peephole. Yep. Definitely Mom and Dad. "Mom. Dad" I siad as I opened the door warmly. "Good Morning dear." Dad said monotonously. I knew that my heart was broken already, and thanks to Mom and Dad, it was only getting worse.

As my parents sat on the couch, I put on my best fake smile. "I thought you were going to stay at the house? I wasn't expecting you or I would've made something" I said sheepishly. "Cierra. We weren't expecting to come home either, but after our inspector came and reported everything to us, he siad that you were quite" Dad searched through the right word, but Mom finished for him. "Uneasy. So, we thought that we would come home to tell you the good news instead of on the phone"

They were beaming. Mom was looking as elated as Dad was. "Cierra, we decided that you're going to live at the house now. It makes it easier on us, and it's harder for the outside family to find you." Dad said happily.

I screamed as long as my lungs would let me, then I started crying. I heard 2 pair of feet running downstairs, and when I looked through the tears that blinded my vision, I saw Hollis and Carter standing at the entrance to the stairs. I ran to them and they hugged me tightly. "Take the guys outside, I don't want them to hear the shouting. They don't need to see us fighting" I choked through the tears. "What's going on? Why are there 2 unfamiliar people in our house?" Mom asked angrily. "go" I whispered as I let them go, wiped my tears away and pushed them towards the stairs.

"You are NOT taking me away from the place that I've lived for my entire life" I shouted angrily. "You have no say Cierra. This has been decided for you whether you like it or not" Mom hissed. "Well guess what? I'm old enough to make my decisions. You've missed every birthday I've had since I was 9. Do you know how bad that makes me feel that my parents only care about me when they think I'm up to no good?" I cried as I sunk to the floor.

I heard whispering between my parents, and I thought I heard Dad crying. "C-Cierra. You know that we've been trying to keep you in a lifestyle that you'd get used to. I know you think that we've abandoned you, but you don't know what our plans were. For us as a family" Mom said quietly. "Well, you may have plans for me, but I have news for you. You're not selling this house, or doing anything that means I don't get to live here. I'm not alone anymore" I said as I stood up and brushed the dirt from my clothes.

"Who were those 2" Dad demanded. Here comes the shouting again. "The girl, that was Carter Parker, the boy was her brother Hollis. They've been abused at their previous home, so I brought them in here to live." I said as I cleared my throat, and calmed myself down. "Why are you doing this?" Mom asked as I could hear her voice about to crack. "Because I have people that care about me that I need to take care of. Carter and Hollis are the people that I can count on to be there for me." I said as I sat on the chair again.

Things were quiet for about 20 minutes, Mom and Dad both on their phones. "Cierra?" Dad asked happily. I looked up, and I saw them both smiling. "You've finally shown us the girl we've always wanted. Your determination, and perseverance is amazing." Mom siad as she started crying. "Mom, are you ok?" I asked as I sat beside her. They just hugged me. "When you're ready, we want you to come and work with us. You've got amazing talent, and we want you to come and work at the record company. When you and your 'family' are ready" Dad said happily.

Now I started crying. I didn't expect my parents to say that. "I love you" I said as I hugged them happily. "We love you too. Princess Cierra" Mom siad happily. A few minutes of the 3 of us crying, I straightened up. "Mom, Dad. I have something to tell you" I siad nervously. "What is it sweetie?" Mom asked curiously. "I-I think I have a crush. On a musician" I said as I blushed. Mom just looked at me happily, but Dad just looked unhappy. "What musician?" He asked through clenched teeth. "He's in the band One Direction" I giggled. "Is it Louis?" Mom asked knowingly. "No, he's interested in Carter. But he's a blonde Irishman" I blushed. "Awe, well we'll have to meet him sometime" Mom said as she hugged my side. "Can you do one thing for me?" I asked hopefully. I texted them my request, and they looked at me shocked. "He deserves it! He's the sweetest guy you will ever meet. And down to earth" I siad happily.

"Hollis!" I shouted. He ran up to me, and I smiled "Come with me. My parents and I want to talk to you" I said happily. I guided him into the living room, and I sat in between my parents and he sat across from us. "What's this about? Is something bad going to happen?" Hollis asked scared. We all shook our heads, and he sighed deeply. "Don't worry about it Holly. My parents--well the 3 of us wanted to know if you'd like to be part of our family" I said happily. "W-what? What about Carter? Why didn't you ask her?" He asked confused. "Adoption laws say that as soon as you turn 18 you are a legal guardian. But since she's living here, we'll talk to her as well" Dad said happily. "But you are completely welcome to keep your original last name if you do accept our offer" Mom siad happily.

His face was full of shock, and thought. I didn't know what his answer was going to be. But I knew that if Carter said yes, then so would Hollis.
