Don't you dare say one word. (Nessa's POV)
I walked into the Dal Riata, rolling my eyes as I heard Brandon follow me.
"Nessa, can we just talk about this?"
I turned around and crossed my arms over my chest. "There's nothing to talk about Brandon. It's over, now you need to leave before you get your bloody arse kicked off of private property."
I heard laughter behind me and knew it was Dyson, Hale, and Trick.
"It's because of them, isn't it." Brandon said, gesturing to the guys. "I'm not good enough for you but they are."
I rolled my eyes and looked back at the guys. "Where's Bo when you need her?"
"So it's true?" Brandon was beginning to shout.
I shook my head, grinning. "You've got it wrong, Brandon. It's over because I say it's over. Not because of some bloody fantasy you've created in your head. Now cheerio!"
I took his arm and pushed him out the door.
"But Nessa-" Brandon was cut off by the slamming of the door in his face.
I blew out a sigh as I sat down between Hale and Dyson at the bar as they continued to laugh. "Don't you dare say one word."
Trick was leaning on the counter, shaking his head but grinning.
I reached over the counter, grabbing a glass and some tequila.
I poured a shot and drank it down quickly.
"Whoa there, Nessa. Isn't it a bit early for that?" Hale said, grinning.
I rolled my eyes. "First off, Hale. It's nearly nine in the bloody evening. Second of all, you would be doing the same thing if you'd had the same bloody day I've had. All right?"
I drank another shot and then put the tequila back. "Thanks, Trick."
"What was so wrong about your day?" Dyson asked, leaning on the bar.
"Other than the fact that you had to deal with the messy business of dumping Brandon, of course." Trick said teasingly.
I rolled my eyes as Hale laughed.
"Haha, very funny. First I had to go to that damn court case for the bloke who murdered those girls, then we all got called out to that case in the country, and then when I'm finally done filling out bloody paperwork, can I go home and rest peacefully? Of course not because Brandon is worse than a lonely puppy."
Hale patted me on the shoulder. "Aw, you poor thing. I tell you what, Nessa Sinclair. I'll buy you a drink. Another beer, Trick."
Trick reached beneath the bar and grabbed a beer, handing it to me.
"Thanks, Hale. I needed this." I said, taking a swig of beer just as Bo pulled a bar stool up and Kenzi sat on the bar.
"Hey sweetie." Bo said, leaning in for a kiss from Dyson.
Hale, Kenzi, and I gagged as they wrapped around each other. Trick rolled his eyes at us, grabbing a glass and starting to clean it.
When Bo and Dyson finally broke apart, Bo grinned at me. "Hey Nessa, Hale."
I smiled, shaking my head. "Hey Bo."
Kenzi helped herself to some tequila and took a shot. "There's some freaky shiit going on right now, guys."
I raised an eyebrow. "Freakier than usual, you mean?"
Kenzi nodded rapidly.
"Yeah, we found a human guy passed out in an alley a little bit ago." Bo said, accepting a beer from Trick. "He showed signs of a succubus feeding on him. And it wasn't me or Aife."
Trick looked interested. "You're sure it wasn't Aife?"
Bo shook her head. "I've seen her feed, Trick. She kills. She doesn't leave someone alive, whether it was on purpose or by accident."
I exchanged a look with Hale, who looked troubled. "Well, if it wasn't either of you, then who could it be?"
