Dark Princess
Chapter 1
Introduction
My name is Candelaria Avon. Most people just call me Candy, but I live a secret life. I have a special ability that is rarely known among anyone. It is the power to be transferred into a fantasy. In my normal life, I am not too happy most of the time, so I love to go to my fantasy world, where I am the princess of the Black Castle. I have very few friends. I don't have perfect grades, but they're passable. Now let's get on with my life.

I woke up to a loud annoying beeping, and slapped my alarm clock. I got up,
and walked over to my closet. I picked out black jeans, a black shirt, and a grey jacket. I got dressed and put on red high tops. I went into the bathroom and brushed my waist-length pitch black hair. I put on black eyeliner and grabbed my backpack, trying to head out the door as fast as I could, before my stupid dickhead of a dad of mine caught me and yelled at me drunkly for no reason, like every other day.
I ran out the door didn't stop running until I was out of sight of my house. I walked slowly, not caring if I was late for school. It was Thursday, who cares? I dragged my feet as I walked, and pulled out my iPod. I put my earphones in and cranked up the volume. I wondered if my best friends, Adrianna and Drake, had survived their evil parents and made it to school without too many scars today. They were on the same page as me- goth, living with a psychotic abusive parent, hated by most, and wanted life to just be over. The only things keeping us alive were each other. Well, Adrianna and I were kind of the goth ones. Drake was more on the Emo side, and made fun of a lot. We all had black hair and grey eyes, but my hair was down to my waist, while Adrianna's was only about half way down her back. Drakes hair was slightly long, and shaped around his face. We all stuck together and stood up for each other, no matter what.
I ended my thoughts as I reached the school, my middle school. I was in eighth grade, along with Adrianna and Drake. I got there earlier than most of the kids, usually meeting up with Drake first. I went over to my locker and grabbed my books and a notebook, and some colored pens. Even though I may be goth, I love using bright colors to dram and write sometimes. It just makes me feel less sad for some reason. I shoved my black and red messenger bag into my locker and slammed the door, only to earn me and evil glare from one of the teachers down the hall. I rolled my eyes as I entered my homeroom. What few kids were there either stared at me or completely ignored me. I sat my books and stuff at my desk and turned around, walking up to the front of the classroom and asked the teacher for a bathroom pass. She looked at me suspiciously over her glasses, and handed it to me. I asked for one every single day, so no wonder she thought it was strange. What did she think was happening?
o_O.
I walked through to the back of the classroom and out the door. As soon as I was out of the door, I took off running down the hall. I would have gone to the bathroom right across the hall a few doors down, but that was if I really did have to go. No, I wasn't really going to the bathroom. Well, I was, but not for typical reasons. I ran down the small ramp instead of the stairs, and reached the elevator. It was only for handicapped people, but thanks to Drakes amazing skills, he was able to sneak an elevator key for me in the mornings when I went to meet him. His homeroom was on the exact opposite end of the school, which we're pretty sure happened on purpose. When the elevator stopped, I dashed out and through a few more halls until I reached the bathrooms. I went into the girls bathroom, knocked on the wall with the sinks three times, and went back outside to meet Drake. I stood there for a minute waiting, until he finally came out, in a grey hoodie and jeans.
"Hey." I said.
"Hey. Do you have the papers?" he asked.
"Yeah." I said, handing him a paper with all the answers to a huge math test we had today. I knew it was cheating, and he had yet to return the favor, but he promised he would, and he was my friend, and I didn't want him to fail and get left behind in the dust. Adrianna and I were passing, her with straight A's, while I was passing with mostly B's and C's, with only one A in art. Adrianna refused to give him answers, but she promised not to tell, knowing that it would mean the end of our friendship.
"Thanks again for doing this for me." he said.
"No problem." I said. "I really feel like I have this test down where I want it."
Then we rushed away as we heard the bell ring. That was the problem. It took me so long to get here, and we had almost no time together.
