Chapter 1: BAILEY

All I see is darkness...then...a light. I walk slowly to the light and a boy is there. He looks about 5 or 6 years old. "What is your name?" I say. He just points his finger at something behind me. I see fear in his eyes, so I'm scared without even turning around. A force turns me around and I see a shadowy figure with glowing red eyes. It says "YOU ARE MINE, BAILEY ROTHENS!!" And I can do nothing but scream.

"Bailey! What's wrong?!" my mother says as she's shaking me awake. "Wha- what?"
"We're you having night terrors again?"
"It felt so real!"
"That's what you always say...Get dressed, it's 11 AM, time for you to get up.
When she walks out of my room, I turn on the radio. While the announcer speaks, I put on my day clothes. "Scattered storms later tonight with temperatures down to--" I shut off my radio and go downstairs for breakfast.

CHAPTER TWO:

I go downstairs with the nightmare still on my mind when I smell bacon. "Mmm!" I said "What's for breakfast?"
"Bacon, Egg, and Cheese sandwich."
"Sounds good."
It was. After I helped clean up the dishes, I went outside and sat on the tire swing. I can see Timothy coming out of his house, he must be coming over. While I waited for him to cross the street and get to where I am, I thought about my dad. He's been gone for two years now, but I still miss him. Cancer is the worst. "Hi!" Timothy says.
"Oh hey, Timmy how's your mama?
"She is good."
"How are you?"
As I listen to him talk I notice he resembles the boy from my dreams. Just a coincidence, I thought.
"I dreamed about you last night."
THAT got my attention.
"About what???"
"You bought me a lollipop. Here's the 75 cents I owe you."
Bummer. I thought I was on to something.
"No you keep it, it's your money."

CHAPTER 3: TIMOTHY

I wish I didn't lie to Bailey. My mama says lying is bad, but I didn't want to worry her. The dream was way more scary than Bailey buying me candy. She saves me from a bad man. I couldn't see his face, but I knew his ideas. He wanted to hurt me and Bailey. That's all I can remember, but I know what I dreamed. Bailey is my bestest friend. I am 6 and she is 13, but we are still friends. I see her on the tire swing a lot since her daddy died, so I visit her more. My daddy is in another country, fighting. I hope he comes back soon because I really really miss him.

CHAPTER 4: MELANEY (BAILEY'S MOM):

I worry about my Bailey. She's had nightmares ever since Dan died. Most days she's very quiet and she loves talking to Timothy, the boy from across the street. I think Bailey should spend time with kids her age, but there's no 13 year olds that live in our neighborhood and I can't afford a new house. Come to think of it, I don't do much either. Of course I do the laundry, clean the dishes, and feed Bailey, but I mean when I'm not working, I'm either watching TV or playing Solitaire. I'd take her shopping, but our car is in the shop, so we can't use it for another 3 days. I just hope my Bailey is doing okay...

CHAPTER 5: BAILEY:

Timothy left an hour ago. After he did, I ate dinner, took a shower, then I read a book. It's about a cat who gets lost in New York and it's really good. Once I finish reading a couple chapters from my book, I go downstairs for a sip of water. I see my mom watching Jeopardy and I say "Goodnight mom."
"Goodnight sweetie. Did you take your medication?"
"I'm about to with my water. They don't even work."
"Well it's better than nothing."
I went to the fridge and got some water. I reached across the counter and got my meds. They're supposed to help me sleep, but it doesn't make a difference.
"See you in the morning, Mom."
"Sleep well."
"I sure hope so!"
I walked back upstairs, shut my door, turned off the lamp, and closed my eyes, hoping to be able to sleep.
