George was a 76 year old man who lived a mansion that was 4 stories tall. His neighbor's house is 2 stories tall. George's brother is 59, and owns a shack that has 1 story, and it's kitchen is 20 square feet. George is a pharmacist, and sells about 179 prescriptions a day. His brother is a doctor and deals with about 67 patients a day.

Question 2 is CLEARLY wrong. The question reads: "Add how many prescriptions George sells a day to his brothers kitchen size, times 40." Because of the comma, mathmatically, this reads (179+20)40=7960. If the intent was to add prescriptions to the product of kitchen size and 40, then the question should have read: "Add George's brother's kitchen size times 40, to the number of prescriptions George sells a day" or (20x40)+ 179=979. Cowboy dork, what school did you go to?

I dont want to start arguments but two of the questions need re-thinking Question #2 Add how many prescriptions George sells a day to his brother's kitchen size, times forty. the sentence is tranferred into an equation like this: 179 + 20= 199. 199*40= 7960. The comma tells us to multiply by 40 after you add 179 and 20. Question #3 How many siblings does George have? With the information given you can answer the question: one sibling. If there are more siblings they should have been mentioned.

to all of you questioning #2, it has to do with the order of operations. the question written mathematically is 179 + 20 * 40 but using the order of operations, you multiply FIRST(20 * 40 = 800) and THEN add(800 + 179 = 979), so you get 979 as the answer. i got that question right, by the way.
oh and to iloveyou30 about question 3, it is "not enough info" because he could have another sibling that they didnt mention but then he might not so you wouldnt know.

The thing is, for the order of operations to correctly be applied, the question itself needs to reflect that. What needed to be done was to get rid of that comma, because gramatically it says: you should first add the perscriptions to the kitchen size, and then multiply that number by forty. Such as what I just did in the previous sentence.

On the second question I thought it meant 179+20*40 so I was confused and I thought that the person didnt know how to add or multiply in an equation..........so I guessed

I only used paper to just like wright it down. Like when you said "What is the number of stories on George's house times the number of patients his brother sees a day?", i just used paper to put Georges' house... 4, times his brothers patients..67, 67 x 4, then did it in my head. Wow. And i basicly got 100% because the second question, its 979, i clicked on it and it said something else.. so... yeah. And also, how is a doctor, poor? Don't always look at math, sometimes, it has to be reality..

if your talking about number two remember the rule of what order you do math. You multiply the kitchen size by forty and then add the other number.
It's a simple equation, it's not wrong. You first multiply/divide, then add/subtract. It's algebra.

That was NOT an IQ test. IQ tests actually give you an IQ, instead of just making you answer dumb questions. : 0 DUH!!!
