It only slightly contradicts the New Testament because there was a Messiah in the New Testament. The Messiah (anointed one, Jesus Christ or Son of God) changed the Law after He rose again so that instead of us having to sacrifice animals all we have to do is trust Him as our Savior. He was the eternal substitute. That's why its called the NEW Testament. The Old Testament didn't have Jesus.

I think you should take a look at what you are saying. You are a devout atheist. And I am not here to judge you because the Bible says, "judge not, lest though be judged". I think that everyone who is a true Christian on this website should pray for you daily and not judge you nor make snide comments to you. Have a blessed day. ok.... well did you know that the old testament and new were just scrolls(books) put together. and that scholars & priests of that time period selected which books went into the bible. their are many books that actually were rejected because they gave out too much information or it went against their (the priests) beliefs. the scholars & priests judge each book by the author and it's morals. they didn't really care if it made sense or not. also the bible has been translated into many languages.
Continue: so the bible has been translated over many years so words and meanings get mixed up. the word "bible" is greek for "book" so the bible is a collection of books, these books don't necessarily have to be in order. and the books that were rejected were called the forbiddon books or lost books. look it up and it will give you a list. and besides a god is a all knowing, powerful being adn sometimes creator in other religions (but The Creator to christians). you as a mortal can't fight a god

hmmmmm.......i'm a christian that studies history and from what i get from you .......you know neither. it's not about knowing everything it's about knowing your history and your religion's background. you only say that i know everything because you don't know nothing about this subject. NOBODY knows everything but ignorance is no excuse....and that's why i research so don't get on me or anybody else for that matter who knows their history.

Nevy is dead on. Much of the Bible was omitted during the 'screening process' which really casts an eerie light into what Christians SHOULD believe, but don't because of lack of information.
i believe that god is coming back soon and i believe everything that is said in the bible is true and those of you that don't believe better get your heads on strait.

Don't believe in God, but I don't insult people who do because it's what they believe in and what right to I have to say that they're wrong?But I personally don't believe in God. It's just my opinion.
But I will say that I think that the bible is a bit scary. Not to mention that it often goes against itself. God loves all his children, but frequently punishes those who don't believe. Or from what I can gather...

yeah, God punishes them because they are doing wrong, just like most parents do when their children do something wrong and like kasonrv3 said he still love them and he punishes them out of love not anger...and life isn't perfect for christians either we have our ups and downs too

i somewhat agree with you. it is hard to truly understand the bible with so many people around trying to tell you what to believe. what bothers me most is when people claim to be 'good' and then put others down just for doing what they believe is right, or being who they are inside.
it confuses me greatly when people say things like "god loves everyone" and yet they also say "gays go to hell, it is blasphemy" didnt god make us who we are? if so, why did he plant in us this fatal flaw?
