I dont think either one should be taught in school cause in my school if u r on the losing side/ not popular side lets just say dont be. anyway, religion isnt allowed to be taught in public schools right? and evolution is not true cause everything cant be made from nothing! we were going over this in my sunday school class! just saying dont judge me cause thats not nice in general not from the Christian perspective in me!
Your comment proves why evolution SHOULD b taught. evolution is not a theory of how life came into being its a theory of how life developed over time. Not once does evolution claim that everything was made from nothing, it just claims that things began as simple beings and evolved into other animals/plants/life forms to better survive conditions. Judging from your comment it needs to be taught in a lot more detail because u obviously haven't been taught it properly.
I think it should be done the way it's done in my school (in England). Evolution is taught as science fact in a science class room because there is scientific evidence for it, and creationism is taught in a religious studies class, not just the Christian story of creationism, but also creation stories from other religions. I'm an atheist, I believe evolution, I don't believe creationism, but I thoroughly enjoy learning about both. :D
This debate is interesting however the point, in my humble opinion, is that Creationism is based on faith not evidence, while evolution is based on scientific evidence. This is the simple reason why one is taught in public schools. Not saying that you shouldn't and cannot have a religious studies class (which there are). But Creationism will not and should not be taught as scientific or fact because it is neither. Let children decide?! Children believe whatever you say - closetmonsters or gods.
Can I combine the first part of answer 1 with the last part of answer three?
That's my opinion. XD
I persoNally don't believe in this 'so called' god but I don't hate on ppl that do... But I think I u wanna hear bout creationism go to catholic schools.. Public schools were made for ppl lik me and u aren't one of us fine, but dont try to pull a 'french' and assimilate Us... Lol... Hope ur educated enough to knw wat I mean by that. P.s. Sorry if I come off as a biit h but I have firm beliefs in wat I'm standin for. Lol. :]
I think you should teach both in Biology class...why not just get the facts over with? Let the students decide for themselves......But this is just my opinion but I think that since the Cell Theory states that all cells are made from other cells, the Very First Cell must've been created. There were no other cells to make it, so someone must have made it. But that's just my theory. :)
So I feel like there should be a seperate class that studies the religious part. Children should be able to decide what's true & what's not for themselves. Otherwise it'll be like we are forcing them into a way of life that they may not have wanted.
I completely agree Nita, that's great!
here here. religious classes for the religious veiws science for the science views.
God is real to me. I believe in him with every fiber of my being. If u don't, that's ur choice. However, I do agree that creationism shouldn't be forced in schools like many subjects are. For example, i don't want to be forced to hear bull about God not being real just like others don't want to hear "christian bull."
i know right, why teach innocent children that their is an imaginary thing called 'god' ?? it's wrong !!
only evolution should be taught
creationism shouldnt be taught !! why would you teach children something that wrong??
