Chapter 1

Marissa

Chapter 1 (My need of desire)

I walked out of school, just coming out of my last tutor sessions. The sky was filled with gray clouds. Damn! It was already 5 pm. I began to keep up my pace as I walked through the hollow halls. I felt like I was being watched. I kept going, and accepted the idea of 'running for my life' sink in me.

BUMP! What the heck?

"Sorry," a voice said, so male but very serene.

"Sorry?" I picked up my stuff and the stranger was helping me. I never got to look at him. I stood holding my scattered papers, and just froze.

"Sorry I'm new here. Am I late?" he asked, and smiled a charming smile.

"U-u-ummm...Oh! What are you here for?" I asked him mysteriously...not wanting to show my nervousness. He smirked and gave out a soft sigh.

"I'm Kris. Call me Kay if you want," he replied as he raked his black silky hair with his right hand nicely.

"Okaaay...Kris...it's already five. And you're late for what?" I asked him again while I held on to my flying papers. I shuffled them quickly in my bag, not wishing to embarrass myself in front of him.

"Uh...I'm here...I'm here...I'm here..." he paused and started tapping his foot. I gave him a 'what do you want?' look and he was still trying to think.

"Ummm...actually I'm here to pick you up," he answered forcefully, and looked at me curiously.

"What?" I stood there confused, waiting for another response.

"I'm sorry, what's your name? Because if I'm taking the wrong girl, I'll be sent to hell," he replied with a serious tone.

"Excuse me? You're going to hell anyways!" I exclaimed angrily and pushed him out of my way. I tried to escape but the stranger grabbed me by the hand.

"Let go," I warned him.

"Please...I'm looking for a girl name...name...name...Marissa," he said warily, while his grip tightened my wrist. My eyes widened with surprise and shock. Why is he looking for me? He noticed my expression and released my hand.

"Do you know her?"

"Y-y-yeah..." I stuttered, while I managed to back away.

"Where is she?" he questioned again, with his eyes fully changed to another color. I stopped. I don't know why, but I stopped. Stupid Marissa! Don't stop! Run!

"She is...she is...she is...she-is-right-in-front-of-you!" I hit him hard on the face. I don't know where specifically but I'm sure I hit his face. Shoot!

Run! Run! I ran for my life through the shadowy hall. It was eerie, seeing the moving shadows through the windows. It was getting dark. Oh no! I stumbled through the front door, and was astonished to find the FREAK again.

"What do you want!" I yelled even though I was terrified and afraid. Shoot...this was not the way I wanted to die.

"Wait...I just wanted to talk to you about something," his voice, almost convincing, but I doubted it.

"About what?" I responded sternly with courage. Damn...I'm a dead person. In fact...I'm already a dead person.

"Please...I'm your demon, and I have something you would probably need."

I glanced and then ignored him.

"Demon? Heh...and you say you have something I would probably need?" I bluffed, but he remained calm.

"I know what you are," he replied. I started to walk right past him, but he spoke something again.

"So, why don't you be nice and please listen to me...vampire." He said 'vampire' like it was forbidden. Of course, vampires in our world were known to be infected by a disease. Nonetheless it didn't matter. I turned around, eager to face the idiot again. I was planning on hitting him hard this time...hard enough to knock him out for good.

"What?" I faced him as my cold blood rushed through my whole body.

"I said that as your demon, I might have something you might need," he answered politely, not knowing I was really close to biting his head off.

"Oh really? And what is that?" I replied sarcastically, without showing any emotion.

"Yeah..but I'm not sure what it might be...actually...I don't know."

Thoughts flew into my head...What? You come here giving me something I might need and you don't know? What a dumb donkey!

"Huh?" I asked again, still trying to be tough. Heh, yeah right...what a weakling!
