I starred at myself in the mirror.
Gently, I traced one of the long scars with my finger.
I sighed, pulling on my t-shirt. My mom opened my bedroom door, poking her head in. "Are you getting ready for the party?" she asked, a hopeful smile on her face.
"No, I think I'll just stay in here all night." I told her. She frowned.
"Rain, you always just stay in here. Your room is like a cave and your afraid to crawl out." she sighed.
"Maybe it's just better that way," I whispered.
"Honey, be at the party, hang with your friends, have some fun." she encouraged me.
"Will you get off my case if I do?" I asked with a slight smile.
"Of course." she grinned back, fully coming into the room.
"I can't believe you and dad agreed on letting Ryan have a party. Prepare to have the house trashed." I told her as she tried to help me find something to wear, I guess sweats and a t-shirt were out of the question.
"Mom, I can dress myself." I told her as she searched my closet.
"In something other than that?" she asked looking at what I was currently wearing.
"I don't wear this kind of stuff to school do I?" I asked, she sighed with a faint smile.
"I trust you." she said, and headed out of my room.
As soon as the door closed behind her, I leaned against the wall and groaned.
I did not want to be apart of Ryan's stupid party with his dumb ass jerk friends and the rest of the school. Heck, I didn't even like my own friends for god's sake! They were annoying and self-centered. The only reason I was 'friends' with them was so I wouldn't be a loner. Sure, that sounds like I use them, but they use me too.
For the party, I chose to wear a v-neck Glamour Kills t-shirt with a grey cami underneath, skinny jeans, a pair of yellow and blue nikes, my TWLOHA rubber bracelet, and my favorite grey over-sized beanie.
For makeup I put on black eyeliner, black mascara, and a little bit of purple eyeshadow. I put some mouse in my hair to help bring out the curls in my hair.
I went downstairs and found my parents in the kitchen, getting ready to go out.
"Oh honey you look gorgeous." my mother told me with a smile, my dad nodded in agreement.
"I'm just not sure about how low that shirt is." he tskd. I laughed, pulling my cami up to the edge of my neck jokingly.
"Much better." he smiled.
"All right, we're leaving. Please call us if things get out of control, because we know your brother won't. Make sure the music isn't blasted, we don't need the neighbors calling the police. And if there are drugs and alchol everyone is out. We've already told you brother this." Mom explained, then kissed me on the cheek and they left.
"Mom worries too much." Ryan said, coming into the kitchen.
"Yeah, well I can understand why. If the police are called her and dad could get arrested for letting you have this party without them being there. So I swear, if there is any drinking or drugs, the party is over." I scolded him.
He laughed. "Guess you take after her." he muttered.
"I'm serious Ryan." he rolled his eyes and walked away.

"Hey ladies," my brother's friend Justin said to me and a couple of my freinds, he was also one of the most popular guys at my school. The two I was with started freaking out giving him flirty 'hi's'. I kept my mouth shut.
"Rain," he said, I looked up at him with a completely fake smile.
"You look good." he told me with a wink.
"Thanks." I muttered between clenched teeth. I hated Justin, he was a complete dickk.
Justin was about to say something else, but luckily Ryan appeared.
"Rain, I gotta talk to you." he said, eagerly, I walked away with him.
"Can I borrow your ipod?" he asked.
"Hell no." I snapped.
"Why? I need you playlist." he whined.
"Why, you hate my music." I argued. "Besides, I don't even really have a playlist. I just keep it on shuffle all the time." I added.
"Ugh fine." he graoned.
"What do you need it for anyway?" I asked curiously.
"Amy Claire likes your type of music." he said. My eyes widened.
"You like Amy Claire?" I gasped, he smiled sheepishly.
"Why? She's a slut!" I blurted out, accidently.
He glared at me. "No she isn't. Your just jealous because she's pretty and your not." that stung, Ryan was never mean to me like that.
"Fvck you." I hissed, sticking my middle finger straight in his face.
I turned around and walked away, Ryan calling after me. I ignored him.
I was about to head upstairs, but someone grabbed my arm, pulling me back.
My heart was racing, past images flashing through my mind. I turned and saw it was only Justin though.
"What do you want?" I growled, ripping my arm away.
"Woah, touchy." he said, holding his hands up in defense. "I was just gonna ask if you wanted to dance." he grinned.
I opened my mouth to say 'no' but something entirely different came out instead.
His grin widened as he grabbed my hand and led me back to the party.
We started dancing, me getting lost in the music as always. I barely even noticed how close Justin was to me, for some reason, I didn't care.
I could see girls giving me the death glare, but it didn't bother me one bit. It's not like I was planning on dating the jerk after this. I just wanted to have a little fun for once.
As the night went on Justin kept getting closer and closer, and then he started touching me! That bothered me, very much.
As he let his hands slide down to my hips, I shoved him away.
"Chill out rain, I'm not a bear." he smirked. That took a blow to me, and pissed me off. Next thing he knew, my fist was flying into his jaw.
"You jerk." I seethed, then ran up to my room, slamming the door shut and locking it.
"RAIN! Rain open the door!" Ryan shouted a few minutes later, pounding on the door.
"GO AWAY!" I screamed, grabbing a pillow and crying into it.
How could I be so stupid? How could I let my guard down like that? Pretending that everything was okay, building a better world for myself...it was all just a lie, a mask. My life just sucked and I had to accept that.

"Rain, honey. We need to talk to you." Mom said, grabbing my hand. Everyone was here. Mom dad and Ryan.
"What?" I asked, not really caring.
"Honey, we think it'd be best...if you went to stay with Preston for awhile, in Forks. Have a fresh start." dad said.
So they were shipping my off to Forks with the big bro huh?
I honestly couldn't wait.
