Chapter 1

Bella Returns

A/N The pick is of what I imagine Jamie to look like.

Today was the day that Bela was coming to live in Forks and I'm glad that it has finally come. Charlie is always around my house because he's friends with my dad and ever since Bella told him that she was going to live with him, he didn't stop talking about it. Bella is the same age as me, but I'm a few months older. I know she's nervous so I promised Charlie that I would be there when she arrived, along with my dad and younger brother Jacob, so that she could have a girl to talk to and hopefully that would make her feel more welcome. My name is Jamie-Lee Black and my brother is Jacob Black. I have tanned skin, long, blonde hair with brown highlights, brown eyes that look almost black and what I think of as an average appearance. I taught Jacob everything he knows about cars, but he's still not quite as good as me. My car is a Chevrolet Bel Air in a gorgeous burgundy and I love it to bits. (link for the car. http://www.thetoptensite.com/1956_chevrolet_bel_air.html) Bella should be here in about half an hour so I should head up to Charlie's house. I grab my keys and get in my car. My dad and Jake were driving the old truck up there because Charlie had bought it as a welcome home gift for Bella. I had fixed it up myself so I knew that it would run well. I started up the engine and pulled out of the drive way. It takes a while to get from La Push to Forks so by the time I got there, Bella had already arrived. I got out of the car and jogged up the steps to the door. I knocked my signature knock and Charlie answered. "Hi Jamie! come in." He said and stepped out of the way so that I could enter the house. Bella was sitting in the kitchen and when I came in she looked up at me. "Hi Bella. Do you remember me?" I asked and she shook her head slightly. "Jamie?" I questioned and then I saw the smile on her face. "Jamie?!?" she asked in disbelief. "Is that really you?" I smiled and nodded my head. She got up off the chair that she was sitting on and came over to hug me. I hugged her back and over her shoulder I could see Charlie smiling at us. Me and Bella had known each other since we were born, but we hadn't seen each other in years. I missed her. Me and Bela talked for ages and then when Dad and Jake came we went downstairs to meet them. "Bella? you remember Jacob don't you?" I asked with a smile. "Yeah I do." she replied with a nervous smile. "So what do you think?" Asked Charlie, sapping one hand on the truck. "What?" Asked Bella, obviously confused. "I just bought this off Billy here." replied Charlie patting my dad on the shoulder. "It's your welcome home present." Bella's eyes widened and she ran over to it. "No way! This is....woah..." She looked speechless and I walked over to her, smiling. "Runs like a charm. I just rebuilt the engine myself." I said proudly and Bella turned to me in disbelief. "You rebuilt it?" She asked. She clearly didn't believe me. "Yes I did." I answered and she still didn't look like she believed me. "Are you sure Jake didn't rebuild it and you just helped?" She asked and I saw Jake and Charlie take a step back, Charlie pulling my dad with him. "No Bella I did it. I'm a mechanic and I taught Jake everything he knows." I answered. I saw Charlie glance at Jake with a questioning look and Jake just nodded. Charlie looked impressed. "Jake?" Bella asked and that's when she realized that they had taken a step back. "It's true Bells. She's the best mechanic in the state." Jacob answered and Bella looked at me with a shocked expression. "So why did you all take a step back?" She asked them. "Because she has one hell of a temper and she gets quite defensive when people question her mechanical skills, just because she's a girl." Replied Charlie. Bella looked at me with an apologetic smile. "I'm really sorry Jamie." She said and I smiled at her. "It's okay Bella. Don't worry about it." I told her and she sighed in relief. After that little event we all went into the house and turned on the football game. Me, Charlie and dad watched the game while Jacob talked to Bella. Now I know I'm not the girliest type, but you try growing up around loads of boys with only one girl as a friend. After the game me and Bella started talking. "So, are you worried about going to a new school?" I asked her and she visibly cringed. "Yes, I wont know anyone there." She answered and she looked very worried and concerned. I didn't like seeing her like this so, I came up with a solution. "How about I ask my dad if I can switch to your school to keep you company?" I said with a smile. "Really?!?" Bella asked me with a wide smile. "Yeah, really." She jumped at me and strangled me in a hug. "Thank you so much Jamie!" She squealed. We got up off of her bed and walked down the stairs to ask my father. "Hey dad?" I called as we walked into the living room. "Yeah, Jamie?" he asked. I walked around to the other side of the couch with Bella and we stood in front of my dad and Charlie. "Bella is really worried about going to a new school because she wont know anyone so, I was wondering if I could transfer to Forks High to help her through it?" I asked and gave him the best puppy dog eyes that I could manage without looking constipated. "I don't see why not. If it would help Bella then I'm all for it." He replied and both me and Bela broke into huge smiles. "Thank you dad." I gave him a hug and then pulled back to smile at Charlie. "Thank you so much Billy. I wont feel so lonely now." replied Bella and also gave my dad a hug. After that me, Jake and dad headed home and I thought about tomorrow when I would tell everyone that I was switching schools.
