Chapter 27

I'll give you jewelry, money too. And that's not all, all I'll do for you.

Okay, this chapter is a filler, so it's kinda short!
The next morning, I had woken up encased in strong arms, my head pillowed on a warm, comforting chest that rose and fell steadily with each pulsing breath. The inviting musky scent exuding from Darren overwhelmed my senses and swirled throughout with my every inhale. Almost unconsciously, I wrapped my arm tighter around his stomach, pulling me closer to the alluring fragrance and warmth. It took a few minutes for me to realize that I was underdressed... completely underdressed, but I was far too content to even begin to feel uncomfortable about it.
Thoughts of the previous night flashed throughout my head, flooding my mind with unforgettable memories. A lazy smile played across my lips as I traveled impossibly closer into Darren's chest, my head resting snugly in the crook of his neck.

Just as I was about to pass back into oblivion, I heard an long intake of breath, a soft snore escaping Darren's lips. I lifted my head to see the flutter of eyelashes, his eyes finally opening slightly before quickly retreating into a squint down at me, a result from the sunshine pouring from the window. A lax smile appeared upon his lips.

"Good morning, sleepyhead," I said softly.

His smile widened. "Good morning, beautiful."

"Did you sleep well?" I asked, moving slightly in order to better view his face.

"Very. Best sleep of my life."

"Same." I grinned and placed a kiss to his lips. "Do you want to get some breakfast? I'm kinda hungry." I pushed myself away from Darren with reluctance. I really didn't want to ruin this peaceful moment laying in his arms, but really, I was hungry.

Before I could start to shuffle around to the edge of the bed, Darren grabbed at me vehemently, pulling me back into his arms. "No, don't go, not yet, later. Right now I just wanna stay like this. Just for a little while." I smiled happily, hearing the sound of exhaustion reappearing in his voice.
Between filming on Glee almost every single day and going to events or parties whenever he did have off, was draining. I could only imagine the amount of fatigue he must feel. If I were him, I'd most likely be falling asleep during the day multiple times. I settled back into his chest and felt his lips gently kiss my forehead.

"Do you remember the last time that we slept in the same bed together?" I asked. I smiled, remembering the crazy night at the club and the events that followed. It seemed so foreignly long ago, yet I could remember it perfectly. It was strange to think of how drastically my life has changed from meeting Darren.

"Of course I do." He smiled warmly. "That was the night of our first kiss."

"It was," I replied, remembering the slightly drunken yet most perfect first kiss of my life that took place in my room. "It was also the night that you spilt my own drink on me and walked in on me changing. And then again the next day." I smirked.

He rolled his eyes. "Did that really happen?"

"Yes, it did," I answered, smiling.

"Joey, can you please pass the syrup?" I asked from across the table.

"I sure can," he replied, handing it over.

Since both Darren and I had been feeling extra lazy that morning, we had decided to go out for breakfast. Joey had reappeared at the apartment right before we had left, so we asked him to join along.

"So are you excited for your concert tonight buddy?" Joey asked Darren.

"Very!" he mumbled, mouth full.

"What are you gonna be singing?" I added.

He took a sip of his drink and replied, "Well you're just going to have to come and see to find out."

"You better be singing Bring It On Home to Me. You do that one so well."

He smiled. "Thanks. I'll keep that in mind."

"Good. Now what time does your concert start?"

"Uh, 8, I believe."

I let out a breath of relief. "Thank god. I work until 7 today."

"You know that Sarah would've let you out early anyway," Darren replied.

I laughed. "Yeah, especially if she knew that it was to go to one of your concerts. She loves you."

He smirked. "Yeah, I usually have that kind of affect on people."

"Oh shut up," Joey retorted.

I grinned. "Thank you, Joey. I'm usually the one that has to calm his big head."

Darren frowned. "I do not have a big head."

"Calm down, sweetie. I'm only joking."

"Yeah sweetie , she was only joking," Joey repeated.

I rolled my eyes, "Joey, why don't you just go to the bathroom or something."

"Hmm, thanks for reminding me," he replied, rising from his chair.

"Anytime," I said with a laugh.

And with that, Joey was off in search of the bathroom.
...and Darren was still stuffing his face.

"Do you ever even stop to breathe?"

He smiled, mid-fork to mouth, and laid it back to his plate. He let out an exaggerated breath. "Are you happy now?"

I shrugged. "I suppose."

"Hey, I wanna ask you something," he said suddenly, grabbing my hand.

My eyebrows rose questioningly. " Okay , um, what is it?"

"What are you doing next month on the 5th?"

"Darren...I don't know what I'm doing tomorrow, much less what I'm doing in a couple of weeks," I answered. "I probably won't be doing anything though, why, what's up?"

He smiled. "Well I just wanted to ask a special someone to accompany me to this little event called the Teen Choice Awards." A huge grin appeared on my face. He continued, "But then when Joey said no, I decided, what the heck, I guess I'll just ask Chloe to go."

I hit him playfully, giggling. "How dare you! But anyway, if that's your way of asking me to go, then I'll take it, sure."

He chuckled. "Sorry, I had to. You're just too easy to mess with. But...that's a yes then?"

"Uh, duh!"

His smile widened. "Awesome."

"Thank you for asking me. Or wait, maybe Joey should be the one I should thank, because, you know, he declined and all."

Darren rolled his eyes and leaned over to place a kiss onto my lips. "You're welcome."
