Chapter 1

Star

I was arguing on the phone with my mom. "But Mom, I've got a movie coming out, and a bunch of albums, and I'm about to go on a world tour! You can't cancel that just so I can go to Hogwarts!" "Sorry, Destiny, but this is the way it goes. You've got to learn how to do magic before music. Your dad didn't...and look how he ended up." With a shriek of frustration, I angrily pressed the call end button on my cell.
I'm Destiny Marshall, and I was homeschooled in before, so I don't want to go to Hogwarts! It ruins my new movie (ironically enough, it's a magic movie), my new songs (all about love), and my world tour! I was so looking foreward to going to Paris! And worst of all, no cell phones at Hogwarts! Breathing hard, I tried to think of another arguement against my mom. But she'd played the "dad" card. You see, my dad was a wizard who'd refused to go to Hogwarts and instead followed his music career. Shortly after, he'd started drinking, doing drugs, basically ruining his life.
So my mom (and manager) is forcing me to go to Hogwarts. It's not like I'm going to go on drugs if I don't, but my mom is too stubborn to realize that. I've put my life and heart and soul into my music and acting, and she tells me I have to go to some castle for a lot of the year! I mean, honestly!
She'd told me to look at the positives. What are the positives?!?
Well, my mom can't come with me. And I'm sure there will be lots of cute guys...and I'll be able to show off my awesome hair and share my trend-setting clothes with my dormmates. I smiled.
Well, it still sucks. But at least there'll be guys.
????????????????????????????????
Waking up, I remembered Hogwarts. I groaned, and glared at my alarm clock. I smacked it, turning the snooze on. Then a loud, obnoxious shrieking noise filled my room. Stupid charmed alarm clock. "I'm up! I'm up!" I yelled, getting out of bed. The shrieking stopped. "Have a nice day!" it said, then turned off. After I took a shower, I looked in the mirror and groaned. My blond/red hair with brown streaks was messy. Grabbing my brush, I yanked it through the tangles and smiled when it was perfect. Then I put on my flirtiest outfit-a spaghetti-strap black dress and black boots. I smiled in the mirror, yawned, and walked out the door. When I got to Platform and 3 1/4, I almost instantly ran into this HOT guy with blonde hair and stormy gray eyes that had tints of blue. "Hi, I'm Destiny, teenage star." I added for good measure. "I've heard of you, who hasn't?" the guy said, laughing. "I'm Draco. What house are you in?" "Oh, this is my first year. I've been homeschooled in magic before." He was so hot! "What house do you want to be in?" I thought for a second. "I don't know." I said honestly. "Ravenclaw or Slytherin. Ravenclaw, cuz I'm smart, and Slytherin, cuz it's awesome." "I'm in Slytherin." he said. We were chatting for a while, and I ended up sitting next to him in a compartment. His friends walked in, and I was overwhelmed by the names. Pansy, Crabbe, Goyle, and Blaise. Pansy was glaring at me, Crabbe and Goyle were stuffing their faces with Chocolate Frogs, and Blaise was staring at me. I scooted closer to Draco. I saw him smirk at Blaise. "So you're famous?" Pansy said, sneering. "Yeah, I'm coming out with a few new songs." "I doubt it."
"Really?" I said, smirking. "I can sing one for you." So I know I'm just showing off, but I wanted to prove to her that I was famous, not just some faker. "Let's hear it then." she said, crossing her arms and leaning back into the seat. "Sure." I thought for a second. Rolling in the Deep was good.
There's a fire starting in my heart
Reaching a fever pitch, and it's bringing me out the dark
Finally I can see you crystal clear
Go ahead and sell me out and I'll lay your ship bare
See how I'll leave with every piece of you
Don't underestimate the things that I will do
There's a fire starting in my heart
Reaching a fever pitch
And it's bringing me out the dark
The scars of your love remind me of us
They keep me thinking that we almost had it all
The scars of your love, they leave me breathless
I can't help feeling
We could have had it all
Rolling in the deep
You had my heart inside of your hand
And you played it to the beat
Baby, I have no story to be told
But I've heard one of you
And I'm gonna make your head burn
Think of me in the depths of your despair
Making a home down there
As mine sure won't be shared
The scars of your love remind me of us
They keep me thinking that we almost had it all
The scars of your love, they leave me breathless
I can't help feeling
We could have had it all
Rolling in the deep
You had my heart inside of your hand
And you played it to the beat
We could have had it all
Rolling in the deep
You had my heart inside of your hand
But you played it with a beating
Throw your soul through every open door
Count your blessings to find what you look for
Turn my sorrow into treasured gold
You pay me back in kind and reap just what you sow
We could have had it all
We could have had it all
It all, it all, it all
We could have had it all
Rolling in the deep
You had my heart inside of your hand
And you played it to the beat
You could have had it all
Rolling in the deep
You had my heart inside of your hand
But you played it
You played it
You played it
You played it to the beat

"And I always thought your voice had been edited." Draco joked. "But you're just that good." Pansy looked at me with grudging respect. "Who was that?" said another guy, walking in. I almost choked. "Harry Potter?" I asked, eyes wide. "Yeah. Wait...are you Destiny Marshall?" I nodded and smiled, happy to be recognized. "Sweet! Are you in Gryffindor?" "Haven't been Sorted." Draco was looking at me in disbelief. "Why are you in here?" Harry asked, looking disgusted at everybody in the compartment. "They came in here after I sat down, besides Draco." Harry said, "Let me guess-Malfoy didn't tell you about all the first years he's tormented." "What are you talking about?" "All you care about is blood status!" "Not all I care about." he said defiantly. "Whoa, boys. Whoa." I said, standing up. "You wouldn't argue in front of a new girl, wouldn't you? Can't you save this for another day?" I smiled flirtatiously. "Uh...ok. Bye." Harry said, walking away. I sat down and smiled. Maybe this wouldn't be so bad after all.
