Puppy Love: A Jacob Black Love Story [Alternate Ending]
Hey girls I'm back! And as you can tell by the title I am reposting the very first story I posted to Quibblo in 2009 with an ALTERNATE ENDING! I will also be switching some things around and re-editing my story. For old readers: I hope you like the new ending since I got a lot of negative feedback, But also some positive so, thank you! :D For new readers: I hope you enjoy this as much as my other readers did! Thanks to all my readers who didn't plagiarize (steal) my story! ~Dani
"Danielle you really should get out of the house sometime, your eyes are going to rot out from being on that computer so much." My mom urged. "Why don’t you call some friends to come over, you have lots of them."
"Very tempting mom, let me think…no." I replied as I flopped on the bed and pulled out a book from underneath it. You would be surprised by how much I can store under a double bed. I flipped through the book trying to find my page as my mom leaned against the door way with a look of disappointment in her eyes.
"Your room is a pig sty, if you’re not going anywhere why don’t you do some cleaning."
She demanded. I took the hint of her reverse psychology and jumped up and hurried to my closet.
"Maybe I’ll take you up on that phone a friend idea." A grin spread across her face in triumph. I threw on some shorts and a t-shirt and headed for the door. I flipped out my cheap cell phone and called up my best friend Jacob Black. He has always been my best friend since we were little kids. I have always had a little bit of a crush on him, but I would never tell him. I decided to keep it just friends because I would never want to lose him. He is a closer friend to me than any of my girl friends. Any time a guy turns me down he is there to lend a shoulder to cry on. He would always offer to give the guy a beat down for turning me down and give me his bright smile. I don’t know what I would do without him.
"Hey Jake, mom’s trying to kick me off my lazy butt again, want to hang out at the beach." I chuckled.
"'Kay, meet you there in ten." He said. He always thought it was funny how pushy my mom is when I sit at home all day. If it’s not her trying to get me out of the house, it’s Jacob.
"Okay, I’ll get us some soda on the way. Don’t go deep sea diving with out me." I said sarcastically.
"Sure, Sure." He said and I snapped the phone shut. I walked into the store and bought two cans of soda and a bag of chips. I walked the rest of the way pouting because I have no ride to get there. Mom tried to get me to take to drivers test, but I got so nervous I failed. Jake usually drives me around if we go somewhere out of town. I finally got to the beach and saw Jacob waving me down from the shore.
"What took you so long, you walk like a turtle." He laughed as I slowly approached him.
"Stop nagging me boy." I dropped the bag on the sand and ran after him. I jumped and tackled him to the ground and we rolled around in the sand laughing. "Jake you always know how to pull me out of a crappy mood." I said while we laid in the cold sand of La Push. I pulled out the soda and the chips and sat up in the sand. I crunched a little more than necessary on a chip, which I always did when I had something on my mind. Jacob looked at me with a puzzled look on his face. His shinny black hair flowed down and rested on his shoulders, and his russet skin glistened from the tides brushing his skin.
"What is it Dani?" He said with curiosity in his voice. He knew me so well, he can always tell my mood. He always tells me when I'm happy my eyes are bright brown and when I'm sad they are black. I never believed him but I always like it when he says 'let me see my bright eyed Dani'.
"It's nothing. I've just had a lot on my mind lately.' I whispered, like I didn't want him to hear it. That’s how he always knows I'm lying.
"You can tell me, you know that." He said as he cocked his head to the side like a puppy. He was much to adorable for his own good.
"Do you think I'll ever find the right guy?" His eyes widened in surprise, he looked away like he was at a loss for words. "That's what I thought." I proclaimed as I pulled my knees to my chest and stared out onto the roaring waves.
"No, I didn’t mean it like that. What I mean is you should already know you're pretty. Why would you think that?" He said sincerely. I saw his cheeks turn a light pink color through his russet skin.
"You don't think I look ugly because I'm part black" I said with tears welling up in my eyes. "It's just I feel like I don’t belong here, like I stand out from the others."
He leaned over and pulled me into a hug and said "You may look a little different, but you look the better than any full blooded Quileute girl I've ever seen. Besides, just because your dad was half black and half white doesn't make you and outsider." He squeezed me tighter in his arms.
"I just feel like that's why the guys don't like me here. Yeah, I have lots of girlfriends but the guys never pick me in the bunch." I said as I slid myself out of his grip.
"You will always have me…" He trailed off under his breath.
"What?" I questioned.
"It’s nothing, we should get home before it gets any darker. You know you walk as slow as a snail!" He joked. I gave him a playful shove and we packed up and set sail for home. Jake nudged me on the arm with his elbow and grabbed my hand. He dropped an unbelievably blue colored crystal in my palm.
"I found this while I was waiting for you. I know how much you love blue."
"Aww, thank you Jake, it's beautiful." I said. I grasped the crystal in my hands and turned quickly before my cheeks flushed red. Despite the fact that I was a paper sack brown, I never seized to turn bright red. . I Hurried home before night fall and went straight up to my room. I took a shower as soon as I got home and changed into my pajamas and sat on my bed unable to sleep. I jumped up and reached under my bed and dug around for a book. All I found was a book about the Quileute history. That must be the book I couldn’t find 3 years ago in Tribe history class. I never paid good attention in that class, must be why I made a C. I flipped through the book, mostly looking at he pictures. It was mostly pictures of wolves and I decided to read a couple pages. I always loved wolves, ever since I got a stuffed wolf when I was little. My mom always says I loved them because we are decedents of wolves. My Blankets are even of wolves, I absolutely love them. I grabbed my wolf off the side table and pulled it into a hug. I fell asleep as soon as I closed my eyes.
I rolled out of bed when I woke up and hit the floor with a thud. I jumped up and tried to get a hold of my bearings and went to the bathroom. I washed my hair and blow dried it, trying brush out the curls and straitened it fairly quickly. I decided I would go to the beach by myself for a while today. I grabbed a muffin off the counter and headed out the door. As soon as I got to the beach I saw Jacob sitting in water, frozen like a statue. I hurried down to the shore and thought I would scare him. He was prone to falling asleep on the beach but never in the water like this. I walked over to him and swung my arms around his neck and screamed. He was blistering hot, and I thought I was going to get a third degree burn from touching him.
"Danielle, what happened?" He said in shock coming out of his trance. "Are you okay?" I yelled, his face had curiosity flying across it.
"I'm fine, why did you scream?" He questioned.
"Your on fire, do you have a cold? Are you sick? You need to see the doctor!" I started rambling on hysterically and he jumped up and grabbed my arm before I had a panic attack.
"Calm down Dani. I'm just feeling a little tired that’s all." He proclaimed.
"We need to get you cooled off." I grabbed his hand and lead him back to the water. I laid his head on my lap and poured handfuls of the cold water over his forehead. I touched his forehead and he was still burning up. "I need to get you home you’re going to get worse!" I began to get up and he put his sizzling hot hand on my cheek.
"I’m fine Dani, just let me lay here a while. You’re all I need to get better." He insisted. He laid his head back on my lap and exhaled a sigh of relief as I trickled water over is head. I wiggled myself out from under his head and wrapped my arm and his hot chest.
"Are you sure you're okay?" I looked up at him.
"I'm fine Dani, just let me lay here a while. You're all I need to get better." He smiled. He put his arm around me, it was hot but there was no place I’d rather be then here, next to my Jacob...
