Chapter 1

If you're gonna push me, promise you'll break my fall.

September 1st is always my favorite day of the year. I'm Ella Black and this year is my fifth year at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. But there they know me as Ella Laine. Professor Dumbledore thought it would be better to my safety while my father, Sirius Black, was in Azkaban. I don't have any memories of my mother, seeing as she died at childbirth. But I do know one thing, one time, when Sirius was mad at me when I was around 3, he said I was just a mistake. You would think that an event happening that young would be long forgotten, but the seriousness in his voice and the way he said it was something hard to forget. At the moment I never understood it, but I soon realized that I wasn't supposed to be born. I was also told around the age of 10 that my mom died at childbirth. Which is why Sirius is my only parent. I was a mistake from the start. I didn't let that get me down though, people say I'm one of the happiest people out there. But today was the day, the day we finally go back to school. Ever since Dad went to prison I've stayed with the Weasley's. So I've lived there since shortly after the outburst about my mom.

I ran into the wall between platforms 9 and 10 and quickly found a compartment on the train. Last year I was stuck with a bunch of Ravenclaws who kept reading and I did not want that to happen again. I pulled my feet up and watched people walk to and fro in front of my compartment. A few of my dorm mates came in and I smiled at them, making small conversation and before I knew it I was asleep.

I woke up when the train jerked to a stop. I had never been asleep the whole train ride before so I was a bit shocked. Stretching, I sat up and grabbed my bag before walking out. As soon as I stepped out of the train I felt two arms on my shoulders.I looked up to see the twins.
"Hello boys." I nodded to each of them as they came back with a hello. We walked to the carriages and claimed one with Lee Jordan and Angelina, one of my roommates.
Reaching the castle we hurried up the steps and into the Great Hall. We went to the Gryffindor table and I sat criss cross between Fred and George, my knees landing on their thighs.
"Can you not sit like a regular person?" George asked.
"Nah. Don't think I can, mate." I said, patting his head and grinning. The first years came in and I giggled at half the stunned faces. Probably muggle born. Always so adorable. I thought. The sorting started soon after and I zoned out and clapped with the others until the food appeared in front of me. I snapped out of it and started digging in.
"Calm down there, EllsBells." Ron said, laughing at my eating.
"Whut? Not lihke yooh dohn'th eat lihke tis." My mouth was full of bread but that didn't stop me from talking.
"Manners, Ella!" Hermione said. I stuck my tongue out at her. Hermione was a 3rd year, friend's with Ron and Harry; Harry Potter. Everyone always get hyped up about him... I don't see why, he's just a normal kid. But I do feel sorry about his parents. They went to school here with Sirius..And apparently he was the one who sold them out to Voldemort. I don't believe that though.
"Was there anything special in ol' Dumbledore's speech?" I asked, turning to George.
"Dementors are going to be protecting us."
"From who?" I asked, my eyebrows scrunching together.
"Sirius Black." He said as I nodded once and turned back to my food. I continued eating half paying attention to what was going on around me. Once dessert popped up I scooted in between Harry and one of his 3rd year friends.
"'Cuse me." I said to the boy before turning to Harry. "How're you, m'boy?"
"Stuffed and knackered. How're you so cheery?" He asked, raising an eyebrow.
"Eh. I slept the whole way here. Crazy right? Just wanted to check on my little boy wonder." I grinned, ruffling his hair.
"Oh just go back to the twins." He joked, shoving my lightly. I grinned and got back up. Ever since I met Harry back in 3rd year and spent time with him in the Common Room one night I felt a bond. Not a lovey dovey one, a brother/sister one. It was good, he was a good kid.

The feast ended and we all slowly made our way to the Common Room. Lee said the password and we walked in. I plopped down in a chair and stared at the fire, running my tongue over my teeth.
"What's up, buttercup?" My roommate, Angelina asked. She could almost always tell what I was feeling.
"Nothing. Just gotta get back into the Hogwarts groove." I smiled, telling her I was okay. She gave me a, 'We'll talk later' look before heading up the girls dormitory stairs. I felt hands go over my eyes and I sighed.
"May I help you, Fred?" I asked. He didn't move his hands.
"How do you know it's me?!" He asked, sounding like a five year old.
"Well you always do that. I just wait for it now." I said, moving his hands and sitting up. "I'm knackered. G'Night boys." I said, nodding my head to the twins and Lee before heading up the stairs and sitting on my bed. I put away some clothes into drawers and laid my uniform on top of my trunk, setting it at the end of the bed. I smiled a good night to my roommates and fell asleep.

*A/N: Yeah. It's super short. But it's sort of the intro. chapter and like yer... Another willlll be up at some point kay bye.
