Story of my Kalika

The idea of this story kinda came up when I writing a short story for one of my friends on the spot when I was 13 and now reread it and came with a better idea on how to expand on it. I'm typing it here so yeah that's pretty much why I'm doing this. Enjoy it...or not really just up to you c':

Chapter 2

"...she opened her eyes slowly smiling up at me faintly..."

I wiped my face and looked at the wall; they refused to let me go in there with her. I wanted to punch a hole in the wall for that but I knew it wouldn't change anything. A police officer talked to the woman at the desk looking at me as if I did something wrong. I breathed in a sigh and got up pacing around the waiting the room. I hated the smell of hospitals if it wasn't for Kali I would never step foot in one. The woman at the desk and the police officer kept talking about me in hushed whispers. "What?" I said looking at them coldly. They closed their mouths and looked at me vacantly. "Well? Are you going to share what you are talking about? Huh?" I glared at them and they continued to stare at me not showing any hint of sympathy. "Well it's pretty f' ucking obvious you are talking about me. It's kinda f' ucked up that there are hundreds of rapists and murders out there and you decide to look at me."

The police officer opened his mouth and "So-"

"No shut the f' uck up I'm here worried about my girlfriend because she cut herself while I wasn't home and you are here talking about me like I'm some kind of criminal that would do that s'hit to her?" My voice cracked with pain as my eyes started to sting with tears.

He swallowed slowly and said, "I didn't know that."

"No you didn't and you are supposed to enforce the law? Why don't you go catch another motherf' ucker that didn't come home to see his girlfriend half dead in his own bathroom," my eyes filled with tears and I glared at him. "This blood on my hand," I held up my hand that had gripped her wrist so tightly. "I was holding her wrist to stop the bleeding before I tied it with toilet paper."

His eyes got a slight sympathic and embarrassed. He was obviously the type of person that couldn't stand to see another person cry. "I'm sorry." He looked away from me.

For a minute, I stared at him and sat back down in the chair and thought to myself, "Why was I always the prime suspect when someone got hurt? Did I really look like such a bad guy?" I wouldn't have hurt a fly let alone my girlfriend the only person in the world that I could love anymore. I looked at the clock on the wall and put my fingers through my hair in frustration. She had already been in there for half an hour and I wanted to see her. I covered my face with my hands and cried and wondered, "Why did she do it again?"

The cop looked at me "Son, come with me."

I looked at him and thought "Is he gonna arrest me now for cursing him out?" I stood up reluctantly and walked over to him. "What can I do for you officer?" I said in a slightly mocking tone.

"Son, I wouldn't mock me if I was you." He looked at me in the police officer way of hiding his emotions.

"Yes Sir Mister Officer Menjivar Sir." I faked a serious tone and looked at him steely and cold. I almost wanted to bore a hole in his skull, but just almost.

He smiled and shook his head. "Just follow me son."

We didn't go towards the exit like I had half expected instead we went deeper into the hospital. I looked at the back of his head and asked myself, "Is he going to take me to see Kali? If so maybe he's not such a bad guy after all"

"Um, Officer if you don't mind me asking where exactly am I following you to?" my voice curious yet uneven and shaky.

"I thought you wanted to see your girlfriend or do you want me to enforce the law by arresting your for disorderly conduct for cursing me out earlier?" he turned around and looked at me with a questioned look on his face.

"I thought that was called assaulting a police officer." I looked at him blankly and tilted my head slightly from habit."

"No that's if you try to put your hands on me but you didn't do that so you should be fine." He paused and looked at me smiled so faintly I barely saw it. "Unless, you are going to attempt assaulting a police officer tonight."

I flinched slightly and then remembered the smile that had faded now then it dawned on me. "Oh god is that your idea of a joke? You cops have a sick sense of humor."

"Well I don't mind snappy comebacks every now and then why don't you try that. Don't worry about me arresting you for it I'm asking for it" he paused, "Literally."

"Alright snappy comebacks," I thought for a second and smiled a sneaky one. The ones you only get when you have a irty thought come to mind.

"Oh god, I don't like that look on your face." He said looking away and started walking down the hall with me again.

I laughed, "In what way do you not want me to touch you in Mr. Officer Menjivar sir?" I said in my best impression of a girl's voice.

"Oh god I was afraid of you saying that." Officer Menjivar turned left into room number 2152.

I saw Kali and I sat in the chair next to her bed and held her hand. "Thank you Offic-."

"It was no big deal and please call me David." He smiled at me and sat in the chair on the other side of the bed and watched her." She really is beautiful."

I smiled at him and held her hand that was clammy and as cold as ice. "My name is..."

She opened her eyes slowly smiling up at me faintly, "Marco..." her voice cracked as she said my name.
