Holiday One-Shots!

Yaaay~ I finally got around to doing this. I'm simply going to write a one-shot set on a certain holiday... :)

It just won't be posted ON said holiday... most of the time.

Chapter 1

Valentines Day

Alaena quickly worked around the kitchen. It was morning, so she had time, but she still had to shower and get ready afterwards anyways...
"Ugh. Who the hell thought holding a meeting today of all days was a good idea?"
She sighed and leaned against the counter for a few seconds...
"Even so... It means I get to see him..."
She smiled and then quickly went back to what she was doing. Mathew came into the room, yawning.
"How long have you been up?"
She looked over at him.
"Ah... About thirty minutes maybe?"
He sighed.
"You know, you could always just visit him at his place..."
She looked down.
"B-but... His brother is always there and... well... Lovino doesn't really want him to know just yet..."
Her phone buzzed and she grabbed it.
"Huh? What's Alfred doing up this early?"
Mathew looked at her.
"He texted you?"
"Y-yeah... but.. uh... It's really weird."
He walked over to her and read the message.
"How should I ask the perfect girl out? What has gotten into him lately?"
She looked at her twin.
"What do you mean?"
He sighed and leaned on the counter.
"Alfred has recently been day dreaming a lot more and he's been really excited for Valentines Day which is odd for him..."
"oh..."
She sighed and quickly responded to the text.
"What'd you say?"
She looked up.
"I told him to ask Feli. He'd know much more about that than I do..."
Mathew laughed.
"You're a girl... You of all people should know the best way to get asked out..."
She shook her head.
"I'm not like the other female nations... I dress like a guy, I only hang out with guys, and I'm just... different."
"It's not like it's a bad thing..."
After a few minutes, her phone buzzed again and a few seconds later the doorbell rang.
"I'll get that..."
She nodded to her brother as he left and set her phone down before she read the message. She had to finish what she was doing before she would read it... She picked up her phone once she was finished and opened the message, but she didn't get to read it before she glanced up and saw who had been at the door. She put her phone down and ran over to Lovino.
"Lovi! You're here!"
She wrapped her arms around his neck and he smiled as he pulled her into a hug.
"I just couldn't wait to see you."
Mathew had decided to leave them alone for a bit, so he hadn't come into the kitchen when he showed which room it was... Alaena rested her head on Lovino's chest.
"Ah, but we still have to go to the meeting later..."
He kissed the top of her head before he spoke.
"Let's skip it. It's Valentines Day, so we should go out on a date..."
She looked up at him.
"Well.. That sounds nice, but I don't have anything nice to wear..."
He laughed a bit.
"You don't have to dress nicely. I think you look great just like this..."
Of course, she never thought of herself looking good in a hoodie and skinny jeans, but he had said it, so she was fine with it... He wasn't dressed up either really...
"Alright. So I guess it's a date then..."
She walked back over to the counter and picked up her phone to read the message. She just stared at her phone for a minute... Wondering what the hell he was talking about... Lovino walked over to her and wrapped his arms around her waist. He rested his chin on her shoulder.
"What's wrong, Lae?"
"I... Alfred... He just... I'm not sure what the hell is wrong with him, but he just f-ing asked me out..."
Lovino straightened up and took her phone to read it. As he was reading it, the doorbell rang and she faintly heard Mathew say he'd get it. Lovino practically growled.
"Who does he think he is? Does he honestly think you'd go out with him? Hasn't he noticed the way we are around each other? Why can't he just f-ing read the mood?"
Lovino would've gone on and on if Alaena hadn't taken the phone from him, set it aside, turned to face him and cupped his face in her hands. Neither of them spoke for a while, but eventually Alaena had calmed him...
"Lovi. He's an idiot. He doesn't know about much... He's as oblivious as I was whenever you'd hint at how you felt..."
He smiled.
"You really were oblivious..."
He kissed her forehead and she moved her hands to his chest and gently rested her head on his shoulder.
"Lovi... I don't ever want to be with anyone else..."
Lovino was about to say something, but someone came into the room...
"Hey! Alaena! I came to see if you..."
Alfred stopped talking. Alaena raised her head to look at him.
"Alfred? What are you-"
Mathew rushed into the room.
"Sorry. I tried to tell him you were busy, but he wouldn't listen... I really tried..."
She sighed.
"It's alright Mattie... He would've figured it out anyways..."
She pulled away from Lovino, but twined her fingers with his. Alfred glared.
"Who do you think you are, Lovino? I asked her out, but you have the nerve to try and take her from me?!"
Lovino glared.
"She isn't yours!"
He would've lunged at the blonde if Alaena hadn't stepped in front of him and, once again, cupped his face in her hands.
"Lovi. Stop. Please. I told you. He's oblivious. He can't read the mood and he pays no attention to what does not concern him. Please, don't do anything..."
"But that bastard..."
"Lovi. Please. Do it for me..."
He relaxed and then sighed.
"Alright, Lae, but only because you asked me to..."
She moved her hands and kissed his cheek.
"Thank you."
She turned back to Alfred and her brother. Mathew was the first to speak.
"Alfred, you should go now... The meeting is soon..."
Alfred didn't respond, but finally he said something.
"I have always cared about you, Alaena, but why him? Why not me?"
She twined her fingers with Lovino's once more.
"Because. He knows me best, he treats me like I'm special, he and I practically grew up together, and I'm in love with him. So why not him?"
Lovino looked down at her. He realized in that moment how extremely lucky he was to have her... She was the one he had always loved and now, hearing that from her, he knew he would never want anyone else... He wanted her to someday be his wife and perhaps they could adopt a kid and then they'd have a family... That's all he's ever wanted and now... He knew someday... It'd be real...
